How do you do a grid made of a lot of hexagon ?

Basically, I want to make a box, where the bottom part is a grid made of hexagon. It could be anything else, but it need to be multiple tiny holes.

I tried making one, but it gets so laggy I can't even add a single line https://a360.co/3VB4nlH

I'm gessing I'm probably doing it wrong. Can anyone point out what I should do instead?

The one thing you should not do is try to make this pattern in sketch.  Instead, create a sketch of just one or two instances of the hexagon, extrude it, and use Pattern from the Solid tool group to make the pattern.  Make sure to use Optimized (or Face pattern) for the best performance.

Here is the way I would do it.  Extrude 2 of the cells (because then you can just use one rectangular pattern for the rest:

Then, do a rectangular pattern with these settings:

and here is the result (model attached)

Note, I did not deal with the cells around the border - that is something you will have to figure out.

I tried this, and i still get stuck in a very long computation, being stuck at 90%

I even split the body, so I don't have to delete extrusion that exceeds the border

Thanks for the reply. How do I use "Optimized" for this ?

@neizolol - you just have to specify "feature" as the object type, and choose "Optimized" as the compute type:

Hi,

The Adjust option should be used if you want to have only those elements of a pattern that are 100% in the target area.
