How do i measure multiple dimensions of a design using the measure tool?

I can only measure one dimension at a time, and there seems to be no way to pin the measurement to then measure another, hence displaying two or more measurements (i.e. the length measurement and the width measurement of a rectangle)

Project the object into a sketch and dimension it.
However, the dimensions are displayed as driven dimensions (in brackets)
