How do I add text to the top of an already made 2D dxf file?

I have seen many videos where people add text onto an item but cant find out how to add text to the top of an item. Everytime we do it doesnt cut as one piece. For example a simple 4" x"4" 2D square. If I add text to the top of it that say 'KNOX' It doesnt cut as one full piece. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Image attached.

Hi. Are you able to give any more details on this? How do you add a quadrant so the text is between the squares and what is a quadrant?

Hi,

Please share the file and show in a screenshot where the text is to be positioned

Rightclick the sketch > save as DXF > attach to post

Hi. So this is moving the 'KNOX; into the square. We are trying to put text on top of the square. I've done a quick drawing.

I am assuming your wanted the model returned as a DXF.  To create, import your existing DXF, edit the sketch and use the Trim tool to remove the intersection to join the KNOX to the the rectangle.  Hint: you may have to select intersection lines twice because there are two entities on top of each other.
