How do I make the edges of this rectangle fit to the circle of the attached image below?

If I drag the rectangle out it sticks out, I need it to kinda curve so it fits the circle perfectly.

Thanks!

HI @troyalexbrandt ,

Thanks for posting! I would suggest creating a sketch a projecting the geometry of the circle onto the sketch, and extending the sides of the rectangle into this sketch as well. This way, when you extrude the extrusion will have the same shape from the circle as it is made from the same geometry. You can join this extrusion with your already existing rectangle.

Let me know if this makes sense or if you have any other questions!

Thanks,

Hi @troyalexbrandt ,

No problem! I attached a file of what I am talking about. Sketch 2 has the geometry of the circle projected onto it. You can do this by going to sketch>project/include> project and selecting the circular body that you want to use. I then sketched some lines that extended to the circular geometry.

projected.PNG

The purple lines are the geometry that has been projected (the circle), and the blue is what I have just sketched. I then extruded from my new sketch, and you can see that the extrusion follows the geometry.

Feel free to look at my attached file for reference. If this extrusion is not your goal, please let me know. If you need more help please attach your file in your reply.

Thanks!

That's really smart!

So you used the normal line tool projected onto the circle instead of using the rectangle tool?

Hi @troyalexbrandt ,

I personally used the normal line tool so that I could connect my lines directly to the circle's geometry.  but if it's easier to use the rectangle tool you can use that too ! Just make sure that you are selecting the right entities when you extrude.
