Hello you fine people of fusion, working on robcohee's tutorial.

Basically, TLDR; why does hovering my mouse cursor over a component ( in this case the Pump Gasket component) highlight my whole assembly ?

What I did is the following:

I inserted the main pump file, and an empty gasket file into an empty file called "Pump Assembly" , I edit the "Pump Assembly" file in place and create a sketch and project a profile on it. I extrude that profile and get a component.

But, whenever I hover over that component, it just highlights the whole assembly.

am I missing something or is that Working as intended ? ( I included a video recording where I spend the last 10 seconds hovering the mouse cursor over the newly created body/component and it was highlighting the whole thing.
I also included the "Pump Assembly" file.

You have created the Gasket using Top Down Design, which you probably call In Place Modeling.  Since you did this you included the Main Body as a Derived Feature in your gasket model.  If you hover over the Pump Gasket in your Browser, it will highlight the actual created gasket and everything you used to create it with including the Main Body.  If you want to only highlight the Pump Gasket, expand the Browser and hover over the Body1 under it.

spot on!

1- Is there a way to disable the highlight, so whenever I am working with that component I do not get confused with what is actually the part I am working with ?

2- Is there an alternative way to not get this highlight or maybe restrict it to the actual body without having to hover over the body ?

3- Would copy pasting the projected sketch of the desired profile from main assembly to the Pump Gasket file and extruding it in the Pump Gasket file and then importing the 3D object back to the main Pump assembly file provide any pros and cons compared to the "Edit in place" feature provided by Fusion ? (TLDR;  as in just working the traditional way of working with the copy/pasted sketch and then importing back to the assembly file )
