Hole and Thread note not working after updating to Fusion 2.0.21286

After updating to Fusion 2.0.21286 today, my existing drawings no longer allow me to add a note on a hole using the Hole and Thread note tool.

If I make a change to the hole size on the model and refresh the drawing, any existing hole notes on the drawing are also not updated.

If I start a new drawing, the Hole and Thread note tool works.

Hi, thanks for posting. I'm testing this out and can't seem to replicate the issue. Are you on mac or windows? Are the holes a specific type, such as threaded?

Hi Phil, thanks for your prompt reply.  I'm running windows 10.  The holes are just a straight through hole, no threads.Screenshot 2025-01-29 101733.jpg

If I use the Automatic Note tool I am able to select the hole in a drawing but the automatic hole size does not appear on the leader line.  If I use the specific Hole and Thread Note tool, I am unable to even select the edge of the hole.

If I start a new drawing for the part model, the hole notations work as expected.  It only seems to be a problem on drawings that were created prior to this update that need revisions.

I can reproduce the issue with a plain hole. I'll ask the drawings team to take a look. Thanks for posting!

Hello @vrpostcard ,

I am from drawings team and have few queries to check with you

  • What was the version of fusion before you switch to latest?
  • Are you registered as insider user and part of Autodesk Insider program ? This is just to cancel out 1 known issue which insider users are facing.
  • Can you please add the model for which you are facing issue here? you can send me a DM as well or mail me at mohammed.ali@autodesk.com

Thanks!

Hello @mohammed.aliTDPXK ,

I do not know the previous Fusion version number I was using, but it is always kept up to date.  I assume it was v.2.0.20981 – December 4, 2024

I am not a member of the Insider program, and I've attached a copy of a part file.  I've tried to attach the drawing file as well.

I'm having a similar issue after updating to 2.0.2186x86_64 on Windows 11. The Hole and Thread Note does not allow me to select the edge of the hole.

Thanks for letting us know.

The issue is only found with model holes created before this release. We are looking at a solution but that might take a little while. So, for now there are three different workarounds. The first is the most comprehensive.

1. Simply click "base view" and place whatever base view is suggested on the sheet somewhere. Then delete it. Hole and Thread notes will work again.

2. Use a regular dimension and manually add hole notes

3. Use auto dimension

Update: Solution is now marked as accepted. The development team will not be fixing this so, by marking the workaround as the solution other, customers might find it. Sorry for any inconvenience this issue causes.

After updating to the new 2.0.21508 release this issue is now occurring on newly created drawings and is also occurring on a countersunk hole

The first time you create the drawing the hole note works correctly.  Subsequent edits to the drawing sees the error re-occur, with the hole note tool not allowing you to select the edge of a hole.

This bug also causes the hole notes to not update on the drawing if the hole size changes.  The drawing will show the original hole size.

Sorry to hear the issue happens again. So far, we have not reproduce the issue in our side.

Can you pls share the dataset, or detailed steps how to run into this issue ? A demo video could be helpful for us to reproduce the issue. Thanks

Thanks for sharing the video.

It is defintely an issue by the behavior in video.  I follow all the steps in video, but still can't reproduce it in my side, showing as attached video.

May I know if it is still reproducible consistently in the latest ProD build? if so, please share the 3D design; drawing and template files with us. Thanks for your support.

The link below is to a drawing file that no longer has the hole notations working.  You can see that originally, the holes were called up correctly, but now if you try to label another hole it no longer works.  Also, if you change the hole dimension in the part file, the hole note will no longer update on this drawing.
