Hidden edges displayed as fully solid and black on parts with <100% opacity looks really ... weird

Hi 🖐.
Just something that annoys me for some time now and I'm wondering why nobody has mentioned this in the past in this forum. I admit I only searched through the first 10 pages after searching for "opacity", so sorry if this already came up.
If you change your part to something other than 100% opacity, especially noticable in the 60-90 range, the displayed result looks really weird and even confusing. All of the lines, even if behind some faces, so hidden edges, are displayed like in wireframe mode, independent of how many faces are in front of said line. In the end you have a bunch of faces that are properly dimmed dependent on how many faces are layered in front of them, but you have a mess of lines that don't give any indication of depth because they are all just the same shade of gray.
Here are some visuals to demonstrate what I mean. First is F360, second is FreeCAD. Part is at 80% opacity.
Just ignore the top with the openings and look at the rest. Would you know how the layering of these cutouts is in this case? Mind that this is 80% opacity, so I wouldn't expect to see the lines after the 3rd face at all. I just get a headache when looking at it too long.
This is how I would expect it to be displayed. This way you can see inside and through the part, but the sense of depth is correctly preserved.
Here a screenshot of a real (unfinished) assembly where the outer shell is at 50% opacity to take a look at the inside.
Great, hm? You can't see the lines of the blue-green part at all but you can see the lines of the fan grill at the back at full contrast, intersected by the other parts in between of course. Would look really "good" on a bigger and more crowded assembly.
