Help My Files Are Suddenly Read Only

A bunch of my files are suddenly read only!  I'm not sure what happened.  I went ahead and updated my subscription to the new personal license yesterday.  Everything was fine, I kept working on the file I had going.  Today that file and everything else in that project is locked out.  Files from other projects work.  These are all files I created.  I've tried restarting, no luck.  What is going on?  Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for posting. Are you or were you working in offline mode?

Negative.  I have restarted the app and opened files that are definitely not cashed to be sure.  I have restarted today and opened different files and they are still locked.  😞

Who is the owner of the project where the read only design lives? The personal license does't support collaboration so if the design is in a project created/owned by someone else, it will be readonly for you.

Thanks,

Bankim

Ok, the project was owned by someone else.  The files were available for on my account website for download.  Uploading them again to my own folder allowed me to access them again.

How frustrating!  I read through the info on the various license types and it was not clear at all that sharing a project was what they were changing or that files would be blocked when the new account happened.  The description of 'collaboration' on the website made it look like it was all about the cools communication tools for corporate folks, which I have no need for as a hobbyist user.  Nowhere did it say you might lose access to your files or that I wouldn't be able to use my buddy's box design any more.  Better communication would have gone a long way.

Thanks for the help.  It was super confusing the way it happened.

I have the same issue and I own ALL my projects.  Still can't access ANY of them, can't change ANY to editable.  It says Document Limit has been reached.  When I click My Editable Documents, NONE of them are editable. This is a nuisance because (as usual) the error message doesn't indicate what to do to fix the condition.  I went online and deleted a bunch of things but that didn't help.  Really annoying, this.

My exact problem also. I can live with losing access to the collaborative files - I backed them all up, but give me back my files! Didn't think I would need to back up my own stuff! Mistake!!!!
