Why does my grid look like this? If I zoom out too much the grid actually starts to look like its breaking. My grid is set to adaptive and its still doing this.

I can see you do not have any model loaded in your design space. this is why your grid looks this way. The setting "Adaptive" says the grid will grow to a size necessary to cover your model you have loaded. You have not model so it is small. Maybe you should change your setting to "Fixed" to keep it a constant size, it may work better for you.
