Graphics driver seems to be outdated warning?

Anonymous

Hello,

I have a warning message at the top of my screen that says "Your graphics driver seems to be outdated, which could cause unstable behavior" I have gone and updated the drivers, I have gone into settings and changed it to Performance, I have checked the box "limit effects to optimize performance and I still have the same issue, when zoomed in to my work, fusion freezes up and takes a minute to execute any command. Can someone help me determine what I need to do to fix this issue. I'm not very computer literate, I do know I have a video card that is split for 2 screens, I don't know if that's useful info.

Thanks!

It seems to be only an issue with this one sketch. do you know why that would be? I went to visual effects and adjusted for performance and still that sketch freezes?

it has to be something to do with that particular sketch, I just opened another sketch and I could zoom an extreme amount and sketch without issue. Any idea why that one sketch causes issues?

Hi @Anonymous,

you can send the link to the design containing the sketch to me, I'll check if I can reproduce it (see: How to share a Fusion 360 design). Thanks in advance!

Okay, here it is. Try closing the ends of the whiskers on the right side of the lions face with a straight line, to prepare it to be extruded.

Thanks!

Hello, were you able to replicate the freezing?

Thanks!

Hello, I attached the file in a previous reply but just noticed you asked for a link. I think this is the link.

Hi @Anonymous,

apologies for the reply. I was able to reproduce the behavior, but it took me quite a while to actually track at which point closing the sketch is failing. There's a small line at the other end of the whiskers which might cause the sketch to be over-constrained when closed. After the line is deleted, the ends of the whiskers can be closed.

Here's a screencast: https://autode.sk/2Qg6UQW

Let me know if that helps.

The issue is present all over the sketch, is this because the sketch is over constrained? to fix this should I delete the constraints? I actually don't need many constraints if any at all for my drawing...

How can I avoid this issue in the future?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

there seem to be some coincident constraints in the sketch that cause this unpredictable behavior. These are linked to sketch points and cannot be easily deleted along with other sketch constraints. If the issue occurs all over the sketch, tracking and deleting the problematic coincident constraints might be tedious, but it's the only idea I have for now to resolve this.

I can recommend the following Autodesk University Class: Fusion 360 Sketching: Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Sketch

What I noticed today and I am curious about is that one of the constrained sketch points in your design is not recognized as a sketch point (i.e. not displayed as a white or a black dot). Deleting its constraint was actually what allowed me to prevent Fusion 360 from crashing. Can you recall how you created this geometry? I wasn't able to reproduce it by trimming the lines:

Thanks!

That particular one was created when I closed that end of the whisker with a straight line, which took several forced shutdowns of fusion, I wanted you to experience my issue so I trimmed the line out and apparently it only trimmed the larger portion.

I am trying to close in the middle whisker on the left side and am having difficulty doing so, I zoomed all the way in to see if there are any constraints causing issues and I don't see anything? I appreciate your knowledge.

Thanks

I also get this error message once fusion unfreezes...."Could not create a recovery file for simbanew v19. Please save your document"
