Getting files into Slicer for Fusion

Dear All,

I generate my STL files from PTM& (Photo to Mesh) to produce a 3D impression of historic coastlines from coastal profiles along the edge of 1800's Charts. I can get these .STL files into FUSION 360 but they will not be accepted by SLICER. Is there a size limit and if so how do I reduce the file size to allow SLICER to to give me stacked slices. In thin 3-ply theses will look like the rock layers on the coast.

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm not sure if you only want to reduce STL mesh's size, you may use "Meshmixer" here is how to use it. and If you share your STL file, I will be happy to support you Smiley Embarassed

my email address is "ahreum.ryu@autodesk.com"

I look forward to your reply

Many thanks,

Ahreum.

Hi ahreum,

I tried to send through the .STL file but as I suspected it was to large. Thank you for your offer of support but I need a dropbox for extra large files or a way of reducing the size of my file without losing too much detail.

Hi Ahreum,

How do I get my .stl file into your project. When I open it it only has a "download" option??

Hi Ahreum

I am located in Queensland on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The long distance calls can be prohibitively expensive however my mobile number is (Australia) 0401397518, but my SKYPE name is neilgribb. Email is by far the easiest and best connection.

Hi @Anonymous

Thank you for sharing Smiley Happy it was happy to talk to you!!

Your STL file is over 130MB and I think it's such a big file so I tried to reduce your mesh data usign Meshmixer and It worked. you should find an appropriate mesh size.

Here is how to do it.

1. Install Meshmixer : http://www.meshmixer.com/download.html

2. Size reduce and Export STL :  https://youtu.be/921cDYBpuL4

I reduced your model to half size and it opened. could you try with my attached file?

Many thanks,

Ahreum.
