Generative Design Problem - Weird Shape

Hi everyone! I'm trying to apply generative design on a project, but as final result I obtain only a weird solid bodies, very far from an organic shape.

I've used differetn configurations of "preserve" and "obstacles" regions but the problem still remains.

Any suggestions? 🙂

Thank you in advance

Hi @g.cogliati3,

Your example (1) is clearly a disconnection. Take a look at these posts for more discussion: first, second.

It's a bit harder to tell for the result in (2), but I again suspect a disconnection is happening. In addition to looking at the shape itself, look at the outcome status in the Explore environment. If it says "converged" then this is the best shape generative can come up with for the problem you've defined (geometry, loads, manufacturing, and materials).

If your goal is to create cool organic shapes rather than optimal ones for the mechanical system you're providing, take a look at this post for some ideas of how to get there.

Good luck!

Ben
