Generative design on academic license

Is the new Generative design functionality inside Fusion 360 available for the Ultimate version users with Academic license? Im currently teaching a generative design course with Rhino and my University has Fusion 360 installed on the campus workstations, they are running the latest April update but the generative design icon doesn't appear on the ribbon. If is not available for academic users, do you have some sort of trial available for teachers? I will like to evaluate it in order to convince my department on upgrading our license.

Is a possible to link my college .edu email with my existing account? When I first created my fusion account several years ago I didn’t have my educational account yet. I’d like to explore generative design without having to create a whole new login

I have tried changing the email account associated with my autodesk account to my .edu email however the generative design work space is still absent from my computer. Is there a step I am missing that is required to enable it?

maybe re-installing fusion 360.

But first you need to do a clean unistall.

Did you changed to the new personal or startup licenses? The old startup license (enthusiast) does not have access to GD.

On my account page it shows that I have a student licence. It also shows me having a student generative design license however the workspace is absent from my install of fusion 360.

Hi @miguel.palma82 ,

I'm not sure where you got that link from but it is a bit misleading. At this time (for education), GD is only available for select institutions that have been approved to use it. It is not open to any educational user at this time.

hi @James.Youmatz

Well the link you can see where I got it from, but I think the point is that it is no clear in that link, what you say, are only some universities and schools selected to use GD.

When are you guys going to fix this issue of false advertisement?? Either provide a list of institutions which have subscribed to use this function so we can see if ours has, or remove this link/advertisement? It's not rocket science (or something actuallyy hard like biology... lol). These are the things that make it difficult to convince professors to switch from using solidworks to autodesk (of which I've been an avid proponent): you see this advertised as available, but when they ask you to demonstrate it to them, you can't actually follow through.

Hi James, do you know who can I contact inside Autodesk to see if my instituiton is eligible for a trial of GD, I am teaching a course for Industrial Design students about Topological Optimization, we are already using Fusion 360 structural optimization tools but I want to introduce Generative Design, 20 seats its all we need for the class. We are also open to pay for that particular module but currently there is no option to upgrade site academic license to add GD access.

@Anonymous

Is your student license associated with a *@*.edu email address?
