Generative deisgn studies not working!, Still on 5%

Hi Team,

I've started a generative design and it wont generate the anything after 23rd iteration after 2 hours the study started but it says status on 5% as well as in explore generative results it give "Fusion 360 encountered a problem and failed to complete the outcome generation. Contact technical support to diagnose and solve this problem.", Looking at other people who have had this same issue I think it could be an issue on the cloud server end. I've reinstalled fusion, cleared the cache, tried a different computer and nothing is fixing it. I'm a student and have to submit my model for manufaturing and testing cannot afford to loose more time lost 7 days work to the issue and hoping that somebody can see this post and help

So thanks in advance for any help

Hi @triambakkarol19999 ,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with generative! I'll do what I can to help get you running again.

Can you please share the generative setup which is failing? Use File -> Export (as Fusion Archive/f3d) and attach it to this thread or to a private message and I will see if I can reproduce the problem on my end.

It may be an issue on our side, but it's equally likely something is up with the setup you've provided. I'll take a look at the file you send and let you know if I see anything odd.

I know your deadline is coming quickly, and it may take a while for me to be able to get back to you with feedback on your model, so here are a couple of things to try while you're waiting. Right-click on your study and select "Clone Study" to get a copy you can play with without corrupting your original run.

  • Try running without manufacturing constraints (unrestricted) if you aren't already. Unrestricted solves are less likely to fail and often produce similar shapes. While you're at it, turn on 3-axis milling and additive if they aren't already (I don't know from the picture you posted which manufacturing type you have selected, but there's only one outcome). The more manufacturing configurations you give the more outcomes it will produce and the higher chance that one of them will avoid the issue.
  • Try adjusting the synthesis resolution (right-click on the study in the browser -> Study Settings -> adjust the slider). Moving the slider up or down 25% can help get the system past whatever it's being hung up on. Don't put it all the way to the right or the study will take a long time to solve.
  • Simplify your setup: It looks like you have two preserve plates with a gap between them in the middle of your drone. Just as an experiment you might try turning the center preserve into a single solid block and just optimize the arms. If you can get that generative run to complete then you've isolated the problem to something inside the box.

Remember that students can only have two concurrent generative solves running at one time, so if you launch five or six new jobs only two of them will start producing outcomes right away (the rest sit in a queue and start whenever one of your two slots is available).

Please send me a copy of your setup before you start making changes so I have the best chance of reproducing your original issue.

Hope that helps! I'll take a look at your model when you send it.

Ben
