Generativ design dont generate

Hi everyone,

I would like to experiment with generative designs, but when I start generating, it freezes either immediately or at around 5%, and I never get any results. The model I’m using is from the Fusion Ready to Generate folder, so it should be fine. I’m using a student subscription with unlimited tokens, and in the past I was able to generate without any issues.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?

Hi @marcellmango,

I agree with you, Generative Design outcome generations shouldn't be stuck at 5% (especially the Samples). I suspect there could be something misconfigured in your account credentials, or in your jobs are somehow stuck in the queue on our back-end service(s).

Would it be possible to share your diagnostic log files when this happens?

We apologize the the inconvenience this is causing.

Best regards,

Dear Hugh,

I sent you an email a week ago with the diagnostic file. Did you receive it?

Hi @marcellmango,

I appreciate the recent reply, and my apologies for the radio silence.

After taking a peek, I see around 78 'jobs' on the back-end console that were processed in the mid-July timeframe. If I'm reading it correctly:

  • Three studies were sent to Generate outcomes
  • Two designs from outcome were created
  • ⚠️ Three "outcomes jobs" show a completed with errors status

I suspect the completed with errors could be related to the behavior you witnessed, where the jobs seemed to be stuck at 5% for an inordinate amount of time. This can sometimes occur if something was specified in the design space, conditions, and criteria for the model geometry that was unexpected.

Would it be possible to share the Fusion design that contains the problematic study setup(s)? I can then bring it to the attention of the Engineering Development team if additional investigation is warranted:

  • File >Share file Link > Use the 'Allow item to be downloaded' slider > Copy / Paste the link
  • File > Export > Autodesk Fusion Archive Files (*.f3d)

Either one above can be included as a reply attachment. If you'd prefer to maintain confidentiality, please email link to me directly (or the f3d).

Best regards,

[Edit:] After re-reading your OP, I'll see if I can repro the effect you've witnessed using the Ready to Generate samples.

Hi @marcellmango,

I can reproduce it now, using the Motorcycle Triple Clamp sample dataset. I glossed over the Completed status and failed to notice some outcomes have failed:

Bug-1 - FUS-210765.png

FUS-210765 is created for Development's investigation. In the meantime I'll try to identify a temporary workaround.

We appreciate your time, patience, and effort to report this, and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions, comments, or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Hugh Henderson
