Fusion360 is unuseable since latest windows update

Hello everyone,

Last week my computer finally got the better of me and forced the latest windows 10 update on me and to my frustration I noticed on monday that fusion360 opens fine, but then doesn't really do much.

Buttons work, but I'm not seeing my projects or sketches, but the appropriate buttons do appear.... I'm thinking this is a graphics issue...

The problem is not limited to Fusion360, also the standard windows calculator is broken for example...

Hopefully someone knows whats wrong with Fusion or how I can roll back this buggy windows update?

Kind regards,

Jb

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting. If you are seeing problems with Windows apps as well, it is possible that the problems with Fusion 360 are related to a problem with the Windows update.

I would begin troubleshooting by:

  1. Checking to ensure that you are using the most recent graphic drivers available for your hardware and updating as necessary.
  2. Right clicking the Fusion 360 desktop icon and selecting "Run as Administrator" when launching it.
  3. Performing a clean uninstall and reinstall Fusion 360. Fusion uses some shared folders in Windows and Windows updates can sometimes shuffle those folders around and cause problems.

Hopefully this helps. If you continue to experience problems, I would try two additional things.

  1. Does booting up your computer in safe mode allow Fusion 360 to run properly? If so, there may be a process running on the computer that is interfering with Fusions normal operation. Procmon is a good way to find that process, or you can launch outside of safe mode and end processes in Task Manager until Fusion will launch.
  2. Does rolling back the Windows update help?

Please let me know if you have any questions. If you continue to experience problems, please provide screenshots and a screencast of the behavior you receive in Fusion 360, along with your diagnostic log files.

I did the clean uninstall and reinstalled fusion a few times already, with no succes.

Just did a rollback to the previous version of Windows 10 and everything work fine again.

Easiest fix so far.
