Fusion will not download over hotspot

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am tethering a laptop off a cell phone connection and when trying to download the install file I get  "OS not supported", this is a win10 x64 pc.  If I disconnect from cell phone and use wifi it detects and downloads fine. Someone may want to look at the OS detection part of the website to determine what is going on with that or just let people click a download link anyway.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing this issue with Fusion 360 download.

I gave it a go on my Macbook Pro using my mobile's hotspot but I couldn't reproduce it.
I'll get it checked with a Windows machine too and get back to you.

Meanwhile, would you mind sharing below information:

  • The cell phone model number.
  • Do you see the same issue if you tether using a USB cable?

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Thanks!

Could you also share the web browser you are using?
Do you see any change in user agent when you switch between hotspot and wifi?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I am using a samsung s10 and the usb tethering to a win10 laptop.

The link you gave shows the user agent as :

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/81.0.4044.13...

I also tried downloading the autocad trial and while I can download the installer, the installer runs but complains with download failed.

I ran wireshark to capture the packets to see if I could gain  some information, I see me request the file and the user agent seems correct then I get the error page.

Sharing the error helped. Following bit seems to be the culprit. Prima Facie, looks like we are getting incorrect OS info.
I will discuss it with the development team. Thanks again, for bringing this to our attention.

Your operating system is not supported. Fusion 360 is supported on
64-bit Windows 7 or newer and 64-bit Mac OS X 10.12 or newer.
