Fusion not sending files to latest Cura version

I am using CURA and when ever I download an updated version of it Fusion 360 always sends my 3D printing files to the old version.  Is there a way to update the settings in Fusion to go to the new software?

I have not found a way to do it but I am new to the program.

I am trying to go for 3.3 to 3.4

Yes there is! The problem is that Cura install a new version and so you'll need to select 'Custom' then the folder and navigate to the new Cura .exe application file.

Thanks for the help.

Looks like once you find the (I am on a Mac) application file in custom you can go back and select Cura again in the print utility and it launches in the new version.

Yep it should add the proper cura version and yeah its basically the same procedure on Mac as Windows.

I hope this will be fixed! It's just a  workaround. I use custom to send to simplify3d and Cura for Cura.

I had the same problem and finally checked the Windows registry;

In  \HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Cura.model.STL\shell\open\command  I found "C:\Program Files\Cura 3.0\Cura.exe" "%1"

and changed it to  "C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 4.4\Cura.exe" "%1".

Now Fusion360 opens Cura every time.

Thanks but i couldn't  try this fix because after last fusion update "Print Ultility -> Cura" has disappeared in Make menù. I can see only " Meshmixer, Print Studio, Preform" and, as usual, "Custom" 🤔

This is hardly a solution, but more like a emergency fix.

If Autodesk fusion has a option to send to Cura, it should just do so.

If the configuration has aged, because Cura decides to replace Cura with a completely new program every time they release a new version, the Autodesk people should have already figured this out and made a prober method to remedy the Cura stupidity.

For me, this would not work, since Cura releases updates so frequently, that I have to search for a new Cura executable, almost every time I have to 3D print a ADF360 design.

Could the Autodesk developers please talk to the Cura developers and find a solution to ease the trouble for us designers doing 3D prints with Cura.

For anyone else looking at this topic, here is the actual solution, rather than the "custom" workaround, for Windows PCs:

In Registry Editor, paste the following paths into the file path bar.  Double click on the file listed under “Name” and ensure registry paths all reflect current Cura version (e.g 5.9.0, etc).  You can also verify that the correct version is being used by looking at the "Data" column.

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cura\shell\open\command

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Cura.model\shell\open\command

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Cura.project\shell\open\command

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications\UltiMaker-Cura.exe\shell\open\command

It is possible that some of these paths will change, over time, so you may need to navigate them manually.  You will probably find that one or two of these locations will have the old Cura version listed.  Once you edit the data to reflect the new version, you will be good to go.

This is the right answer. Thanks deskwared!

In my case, the current user software registry key existed, which I found via a registry search and corrected to point to the currently installed version of Cura. What I could not have solved were the missing registry keys, but having found them here, I was able to create a registry import file to set all the keys to the same installed Cura version/path and have now automated a fix whenever installing a newer version of Cura.

End result, Cura shows up as a 3D print option even after any update of Cura.
