Fusion Freezes, Ram limitation?

Hello all,
we have the following problem.
Fusion freezes or crashes on very large and complex models.
Also, Fusion only seems to use about 50% of the ram.
Is there a software limit on the ram?

Best Regards,

 Mathias

Hi,

Often this is caused by complex and not fully defined sketches.

Please share a sample file for reply.

@mfU3CRQ thanks for reporting!

Would you please provide below info to us for better investigating on the problem?

  • Have you sent out crash report out when you encounter crash issue? If not, would you please use your email address to send one? Please share your email address with us once you have any crash report sent out successfully.
  • Would you please share your dataset with us to see if we can reproduce in our side?
  • Would you please also share with us your graphics device info? including the graphics card and driver running in your system.

Thanks for your support as always!

Regards,

-Lisa

Thanks for the replies.

  • I will send you a private message with the email address.
  • Please find attached a small sample file.
    • If we use the function "Rectangular Pattern" to create a cube (e.g. 7 x 7 x 7 ; spacing distance 100 mm), Fusion takes long to update the model or freezes.
  • At the Moment, we use internal graphics.

[GPU Information]

Thanks for sharing the dataset and more details!

I think the Rectangular Pattern creation performance not only relates with graphics card, but also the other hardware factors such as the CPU and RAM. Better CPU and RAM will improve the compute time. I tested in my side with Lenovo P620+ NVIDIA Quadro P2200, it can be done in 15s on the second pattern creation. We can continue improving on the pattern creation performance, so the low end machine can also behave faster when dealing with pattern.

Let us know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks,

-Lisa

Thanks for testing.
We also need 15 seconds for the small sample model, then it seems to be normal.
Since we want to create much larger patterns, we are hoping for an improvement.

Best regards,

 Mathias

Hi,

1. Are you creating the pattern in sketch or solid mode?

2. if solid mode:
Body; Feature; Faces ?
Compute Type = Adjust; Identical; Optimized ?

Hi Günther,

1. We create the pattern in solid mode.

2. Body.

Where can we check the compute type?

 Mathias

1. Compute type is only available for feature patterns

With feature patterns, the Adjust option is usually the slowest and should only be used if the feature has a reference (e.g. with Extrude to Object).

2. For me, editing a pattern (feature > identical/optimized) of 2000 instances takes about 5s to start the menu and another 5-9 s for the recalculation.

3. RAM is not significantly required for the entire process, but the CPU runs at maximum speed

Thank you, Mathias!
The request is clear now, we will track an investigation story internally and have further review. But it might not be improved in a short time, since it requires lots of efforts in profiling, investigation and then development. Will keep you updated if we get more progress on this.

Thanks,
-Lisa
