fusion flat pattern bend line

when exporting a dxf of a flat pattern, external (cut) lines, bend centerlines and bend extent lines are all solid and the same colour.

when you view a flat pattern the bend center lines and the bend extent lines are center and dashed lines respectively and are a pail blue but on an exporter dxf file they are all white and solid lines

is there an option to change bend center lines to a centerline and or change the colour?

Hi,

The only control you seemingly have, and it's really just the translation doing it for you,  is the dxf layers that emerge in dxf exports. Currently, any changes to line types would have to be made after the DXF leaves Fusion, such as in a third tool.

If you import a DXF that Fusion exports, use "one layer per sketch" setting. You can then edit the layer line types and export it again.

I logged an improvement ticket for this, because Fusion dxf are aware of layers, but use continuous lines for all layers. FUS-190565

If you import a DXF that Fusion exports, use "one layer per sketch" setting. You can then edit the layer line types and export it again.  But there is no layer editor, you cannot create, define, or edit them.

DXF export is a translation of a Fusion design file, so it provides some concept of layers. I think we could give you more control over those layers, or at the very least provide an industry standard, i.e. centerlines for bend lines.

thanks,

will keep an eye on the improvement tick,

would be greatly beneficial to have bend lines as centerlines. and be able to not have bend extent lines on there too.

thanks

What CAD program are you using to view the DXF flat patterns extracted from Fusion?

i only use true viewer to check dxf files (as a safety measurer)then send them to a 3rd party who cuts and bends them for us,

Thanks.

In about a week, the next Fusion Insider build will be available. This is the build we'll release after the Insider period ends in March.

If you want to give it a try, there is a new workflow for exporting sheet metal flat pattern dxf that might answer your questions.
