Fusion crashing while doing nothing and unusable!

Keep getting crashes while Fusion's sat doing nothing. Just open Fusion, no designs open and it'll crash after 5 minutes. I've updated windows and graphics driver but it made no difference. No other programs giving me any trouble. I'll email my diagnostics to anyone from support if you let me have your email address. Last error report CER_200997980 to Autodesk

Mark

Edit Just managed to save logs before Fusion crashed again, only running for about 2 minutes.

error report CER_200999020 to Autodesk.

Hi @HughesTooling ,

You can send them to me, [email protected].

Also - anything you notice happening in the background that might help me nail this down? Network turning off for power saving, computer going to sleep, syncs in the background, etc. It looks like this crash may be related to a GUI.

Thanks,

Hi @HughesTooling ,

@seth.madore ran into this this morning too. Can you sign out of Fusion, and sign back in?

Thanks,

Email rejected because of size violation, had this problem before trying to send you logs! File's about 7 Mb

Log file emailed. Nothing else going on and Fusion is running fine on the PC next to the problem one so internet should be ok. Think the problem started Saturday, crashed while I was away from the PC, restarted and the last update downloaded and installed. Had another crash after update so installed latest drivers and updated windows, rebooted a couple of times. Only thing that is different is I have a warning that Extension are about to expire in a couple days but I have the same warning on the other PC. Tried switching to offline as well but made no difference.

@James.Youmatz  what do you mean I "had" the problem? It's still happening. I've tried uninstalling, logging out, you name it. At first I thought it was tied to Autosave, and then perhaps it was tied to some file, but nope. Sitting there with no design open and it crashes. I too am suspicious of the Extensions warning, as that was present for me as well. Could just be coincidence...

@HughesTooling you can send them to my shop email address, I'll get them to James

libertymachineshop at gee male dot com

The only thing that HAS worked is signing out of my ADSK account and working in my commercial. Just makes it "fun" when replying to forums posts (thanks SSO!)

@seth.madore  Thanks, I wait a while as Fusion seems OK at the moment. A couple of things I've done, gone into offline mode then back, and after reading the post from James I switched hub from personal to team. On my PC that's been OK I had to switch from my team hub back to my personal one, could all be coincidence though.

@James.Youmatz  Sent a dropbox link to download the log file. Still crashing I'm afraid.

Thanks Mark

Same. It behaved for a while with no file open. Opened up a simple file, made some edits and let it sit. 7 minutes later it crashed on me

@seth.madore  How's Fusion running today? Last night I shut windows down and rebooted my router and so far today Fusion's not crashed. Don't know if Autodesk have found and fixed something or the router reboot made the difference.

Like crap. Logged into my ADSK account and crashed within 5 minutes. Running stable on my commercial account though, so I carry on...

Yea still chatting with dev on this one and testing around.

@HughesTooling same account as yesterday? I do think it is strange that it is account based. Any popups from your MFG extension on days left? I do know that was one commonality yesterday (besides idle). Only other temporary thought I had was to toggle the Auto-Save preference time to be much much higher and see if it makes a difference.

Still investigating all the logs however.

Thanks,

I did crank it up to 90 minutes, but it still crashed within 7 minutes.

Note Fusion crashed while typing this on another PC..

Spoke too soon, after running all morning it just crashed while I was at lunch. Only thing different is Fusion was foreground all morning but Chrome was foreground when it crashed. I've restarted Fusion on it's own and I leave it with no other programs running and see what happens. Only other thought is we have a bit of a heatwave at the moment so might be a hardware problem.

There's only one day left on extensions so I'll see if when the orange banner gone it makes any difference.

A little update:

I tested this on my other PC (Surface Pro) and my MacBook Pro. Within 6-7 minutes my Surface crashed. However, it took my Mac almost 2 hours to crash. I just opened it up and let it sit idle.

I'm redoing the test, this time with a simple document in an unsaved state

Mark, has your Extensions expired yet? I was crashing last night, but this morning my Extensions are expired and so far I'm running smooth. /crosses fingers

@seth.madore  No still showing one day, not sure what time the option will expire. Glad they found the problem and it's fixed. Odd it runs OK on my windows 7 PC, bit of luck for once. Smiley Happy

After my CAM extensions ran out the problem stopped and I guess the last hotfix fixed the root problem. Good example why beta testing with real users helps. Seem to remember another one like this where in house testing didn't spot a problem that hit real user the first day a new version was released.
