Fusion Crashing non stop and taking forever to the point I can't use it anymore.

I have a $6000 MAC I bought about 3 years ago to be able to run Fusion but it seems that any pattern type things just freezes it as well as other operations. I use to be ale to do them but recently can't. Even 20 x20 pattern I have to force quit Fusion. I was wondering if my Computer has already become obsolete to run the latest version of Fusion? I attached my computer info. Mac OK Mojave 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 Graphics Radeon Pro 460 4 MB Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB

@Anonymous - this has nothing to do with the speed of your computer.  It has more to do with the complexity of the geometry in your model, particularly the Mesh-inlay component.  This is a fairly large pattern that produces a fair number of faces and edges.

 

Your modeling techniques seem pretty good, I can't find anything in particular that you've done wrong here.

 

What operations, in particular, do you find "take forever"?  I was able to do a Compute All on this model, and it is about what I would expect for this level of complexity.  The features that take the longest to compute are the body patterns and the Combines.  Combine14 (combining the pattern of pattern) takes 25 seconds to compute.  The next slowest feature takes 7 seconds (on my machine).

 

We do try to continually examine and improve performance, so if there are specific operations that you find unacceptable, we can use this as an example model to do some profiling.

 

I'll keep poking at this model and see if I can improve the performance with some different techniques.  If so, I'll let you know.

I did find that if I suppressed Chamfer13, the entire model seems to be much more responsive.  I don't know how flexible you are with this detail, but it does seem to help a bit.  The compute is much faster.  That Combine feature's compute time is now 2.7 seconds.   We'll investigate this further to try to see why this particular feature affects the combine so much.

I think it was because I changed a body into a component half way through drawing it along with a lot of various filets with the pattern that made it crash. Now I’m redoing the inlay from start in a new component but think I’ll get it crashing again due to fillets and pattern. Is there a general rule on how to best do patterns? Max number or best to pattern bodies over features? 15x15 maybe 6 fillets 1 chamfer. I wonder to cut fillet the patten feature or draw extrude pattern body. Hmmm

@Anonymous - it's best to either pattern Faces or Features, with the type set to "Optimized".  15x15 should be fine.
