Fusion crashes when doing loft

Fusion keeps crashing when I try to do a loft in the solid modeling environment.  I did get it to work once, but then it crashed when I tried to shell it.    I have a circle profile on on plane and on a perpendicular plane I have a slot profile.  On a 3rd plane I have a guide rail (just an arc) to be used as a centerline.

Running on Windows 10 PC.   I attached the 3fd file.

Hi,

what you need is a "Centerline"  instead  of "Rail"

Guenther,

I did use centerline.  I did exactly what you show in your screenshot and it crashes almost every time.  If it doesn't crash, it when I try to do other things, like shell.

You have extra lines (that should be Construction) in your sketches.

It might work with those lines as object lines, but try changing to Construction and see if you still have an issue.

But I think I would change the technique a bit to have more control of the Loft, particularly at the circular end.

Hi,

1. have a coffe or tea and try again

2. do a  CLEAN UNINSTALL

Changing the lines from solid to construction seems to have solved it. Thanks

I cannot reproduce the crashing either. Strange!

@SGoldthwaite

I made an additional change that you should check in my Ver 2 file.

Thanks. I see in V2 you made the center guide a construction line. Even though it seems to be working now with the construction lines, I may do a clean install anyway.

Look at both examples from the Front view (on the view cube).

Don’t you see why I changed the rails?

I see it. You drew rails for the loft to follow instead of the centerline. I like V2 better. Thanks

I ran the Fusion cleaner program and re-installed Fusion. Then I tried lofting again with the same file that was crashing before.  This time it worked, so it appears reinstalling fixed something.

we are always interested in crashes.  Thank you for sending in the crash reports, it made it possible for me to look these up.  All your crashes seem to happen in our UI toolkit, which is based on QT.  That might help to explain why you see the crash, and others (me included - either Windows 10, or MacOS 11.6).  So, it would be helpful to know what OS you are using.  It might also be worth trying to re-install Fusion (as lame as that sounds...).

Jeff,
I was running Windows 10. I did cleanup then reinstalled Fusion and the problem has gone away.

Thanks, @SGoldthwaite - very strange.  If you see it again, let us know, but glad to hear you are back on track again.
