Fusion crashes when attempting to create machine output file

I have not used Fusion for some months.  Prior to that everything was working ok.  Nothing in the PC has been changed during the break, including hardware and software.    Today I opened one of my old files and attempted to create an nc file output.  As soon as I click the Gcode icon the program locks up.  In the lower right of the screen is a progress bar which is animated, but no indication of what it might be doing...  Other programs can be run on the computer at this time.  I've tired leaving running for 10 minutes or so, but no luck yet... 

I am running a PC with Win7.  Thanks for any insights here...

BTW - I am seeing a lot of reports about Fusion 360 behaving badly in recent times.  Is Fusion dying by any chance?  That would be sad but it just looks really bad when you look through the list of recent posts...  and not too many solutions either.     Why didn't they just leave it alone when it was working???
