Fusion 360 will not start over Windows Remote Desktop

Fusion 360 for Windows will no start when connected between two windows 10 machines over "Remote Desktop Connection" application. There's no error message nor notification, if I attempt to launch as administrator windows will notify me to confirm but it still won't launch. There's also no running background process in the Task Manager.

If I launch Fusion 360 manually first on the host machine and then connect it works just fine however that defeats the purpose of remote.

Is there a setting I need to enable to get this to work?

I do this all the time.  The main thing is that you MUST be connecting to the Fusion 360 Windows computer using the same user credentials and profile that you would be using if you were running Fusion 360 on the remote machine.  Also the display settings should be similar configuration on the Remote Desktop Connection to your remote computer.

Edit: If you are running a VPN service, you either have to turn it off or configure it to let the ports Fusion 360 needs to run through.  I just turn mine off.

Thank you John,

I'm using a laptop and remoting into a workstation without any VPN. You are saying that because my laptop doesn't have the same login credentials as the workstation the application won't start? Is there a configuration necessary to get around this?

No, I am not saying that at all.  I said you must use the same Windows log in credentials in the Remote Desktop session dialog as the account used on the remote computer that you normally use to run Fusion 360.

Fusion 360 installs using the current logged in user profile, setting up files under the profile.  You must use the same Windows profile to log in the Remote Desktop application on the remote computer.

Makes sense, I attempted to match credentials between laptop and workstation, this did not work. Since the windows user profile between the two is completely different as you mention it will not run. Additionally the workstation doesn't have monitor attached.

I will try to use a different remote app such as VNC or get around this through some automation script.

Again thank you John.

Check your firewall setting on both the system do not block the connection.

If the problem is continues than try to use other SSH client to connect remote system.
