Many users/subscribers have complained about this issue from multiple angles. AutoDesk seems obsessed with Subscription-Cloud being "The Way of the Future" and are NOT interested in actual customer concerns or needs. This is especially clear with their treatment of Eagle customers, and Fusion customers that came to AutoDesk by way of old Eagle. For many many users, cloud based software is simply NOT acceptable, primarily (but not exclusively) due to ITAR. When asked about transitioning from Eagle to Fusion (which is pretty great, in many respects) or when wanting to create a project in Fusion that falls under ITAR (i.e., non-cloud), there should be a cloud lock out toggle for the project. Just keep the project completely off-line with little to no likelihood of accidental cloud backup occurring. They have admitted that this would be an easy feature to add, but are not interested in adding it because that is not the way forward in their view. For me, this means I am transitioning to KiCAD. This is unfortunate, as I would like to continue as a Fusion customer (despite excessive cost) and have those 3D mechanical tools, but the pro-con balance is simply not sustainable. Cost has ballooned (painful), subscription means my projects are hostage to their corporate whims (very scary), and being forced into their cloud based work flow (totally unacceptable) are just too much. AutoDesk is screaming at us to abandon them. It makes no sense to me, but I am hearing them loud and clear and I am working on that transition now. The only product that seems to be still as good as gold at AutoDesk is AutoCAD LT, which also has become excessively pricey lately, but (barely) still worth it.
