Fusion 360 on Macbook fails to update. Solutions offered by Adesk tech support fail. Attempts to use Utilities fail.

Fusion 360 on my MacBook Pro running the latest OS fails to update.  I have a numeral one next to the Job clock showing that it has failed to update. I also have Fusion 360 on a MacBookAir running the same OS that has updated automatically to the latest version of the software without a problem.

Here is the curious part. The Adesk Fusion 360 tech service guy I have been in contact with seems to be clueless as to how to proceed. Nothing he has suggested has worked in spite of his admission that this is not an uncommon problem with a Mac on this update.  At this point I can't even get the uninstall program to run. Error messages in the log suggest that there is a corrupt image file. It seems odd that the Uninstall Utility would stumble over a corrupt file.

The older Fusion 360 version seems to be happily to be running. It just refuses to be updated. Automaticlly, or manually for that matter.. It also refuses to be uninstalled.

Anyone recognize what is going on here?

@alanhooker I can try to reach out to our support team to get the log files to see what could be happening here but if you can post the diagnostic log files that would be great. Regarding that it cannot be uninstalled, I assume you may have already tried this but does a restart of the machine and then trying to uninstall do any good? Which version of Fusion are you on now?

Turning off and rebooting the computer does no change anything. Repeated downloads do not do anything. Every thing errors out, yet the actual Fusion360 program load and works normally with the old 2.0.1288 update.

The same errors continue to pop up in the log.

Error: Exception during Processing

Error: Database Disc image is deformed.

I was lead on a wild goose chase by the tech. Only thing I learned from him was that the file needed for the update was a disc image file. He ignored my request to be told the exact file name and extension. I don't think he knew.

I think the disc image file I downloaded is not on the path to be found by the install program.

Either that, or I am downloading the wrong file, or corrupting the file while down loading.

I don't know where this downloaded file belongs.

Curious problem.

I have two machines. One is a MacAir that updated automatically to version 2.0.13162. The second this MacPro, running 2.0.12888, is having problems updating. Both are running OS12.4

Seems like it should be a simple problem like something got switched on, or may be off that is needed by the program(s) including the utility functions.

@alanhooker Thank you for the logs. While we take a look at it, can you please follow this article to see if that solved the issue for you? This is for the exact same error message I believe you are receiving.

Tried the article.

I did not find an Autodesk folder,  or one named webdeploy under the library folder.

I used the usual methods for finding hidden files and folders with no results.

Not sure if there is another method that needs to be used in this case.

The article does not say what apple operating system this article is referencing.

Is there a clear map of the Fusion 360 file structure available for the Mac OS12.4?

Fusion 360 has been running on this machine for a few year without a problem.

It is unclear what has changed.

Ok. This is really strange. I think you checked in the system folder and may not be in the user folder. So lets try this:

1. Finder - Go - Go to Folder

2. /Users/YOUR ID/Library/Application Support

3. Now I hope you will see Autodesk Folder and under this should be a web deploy Folder

Lets take a back up for this folder (just in case we want to revert) and delete this folder. Now try a reinstall of Fusion 360 and this should get you to the latest build.

Rajkumar

Thank you !

It worked! I now have the 2.0.13162 update running after restarting the program after the install. The program now seems to load slower then I remember (not counting the one installing the update.)

It seems to be working now . I will  need to reinstall the Mapboards app which was on the old version.

You might take a moment and share this procedure with with  The Global Product Support Group. The poor soul I was in contact  with there did not have a clue. He lead me on a wild goose chase.

Thanks,

T
