Fusion 360 is so bogged down it is nearly impossible to create simple 2D drawings and designs for CNC plasma cutting. I have been using the software for over 3 years for my projects and it is constantly getting worse more time consuming and more difficult to use on a daily basis. Use it on two very capable computers no issues until recently. Bog down not responding locking up constant issues about ready to delete it and move on... Don't understand why Autodesk cannot create a straight-on 2d bare Bones version of this to use without all the other crap that most people or the average person does not need or use... Sorry had to vent.

Hi, Mike. I'm not a Fusion team guy, but I was just wondering exactly what you are trying to do with Fusion. Is it turning your 3D model into a 2D detail drawing that is causing you the problems? Maybe if you share one of your designs that demonstrates the issues you are having, some of the experts here or in the forums could take a look, and try to help you out?

I use CAD CAM to create 2D designs to cut on my CNC plasma cutter. The majority of these designs are based off the same shape which I use template drawings for and add in the designs to the drawings for each individual item. It doesn't seem to be any specific drawing per say mainly random and sometimes it even doesn't matter how complicated the drawing is if I delete a line Fusion sits and loads and loads and loads sometimes does not respond so I end up having to shut it down. I have a desktop and a laptop I create my designs on and it doesn't seem to matter which one I use same problem I've been using Fusion 360 for over 3 years but recently this has become a really big issue and very time-consuming

Mike Mussmann here's a good example. I have a drawing I've been working on and fighting with for a while thought I had it all figured out now all of a sudden it's saying my toolpath is invalid. In another instance with the same drawing I tried creating a outer perimeter box around the outside of the drawing with the rectangle function and once I do it it just sits there and buffers and says not responding and locks up constant problems...

I forgot to add one thing over the last couple years I have been paying for a fusion 360 subscription after talking to one of the texts they told me that I really did not need to have one based on what I used it for and he referred me to downgrade to the free version which I did and believe it or not it seems like ever since I've done that is when most of my problems became apparent...

correlation doesn't equal causation

Can you share a sample file to the Fusion forum?

I can't help but wondering, if your needs are strictly 2D, why did you choose Fusion, which is a 3D solid modeling software. I wonder if you'd do better with AutoCAD, which is at it's core, a 2D platform.

Can you share one of your files, or even a screen shot of one?

Hi,

I agree,but:

I think that it makes no sense to react in a differentiated way to an undifferentiated contribution.

just a guess here, but I'd be willing to bet that your "simple" 2D designs are not so simple.  What software was used to create these 2D design?  What format are they in?  SVG?  A lot of SVG creating tools can produce thousands of very tiny line segments, and, because Fusion is trying to load them into a constrained sketch environment which is expecting at most a few hundred curves, it gets overwhelmed.  There are SVG tools out there than can re-fit a single curve to a complex polyline that will drastically improve your experience in Fusion.

If you can share one of these 2D designs, or the Fusion design made from it, we can tell in seconds if this is the case.

I would guess it is one of 2 things. 1. You don't have enough ram to run your Fusion360 relative to the files sizes you actually (regardless of the size you think they are) - minimum 16g ram if you are really trying to use Fusion360 for professional work. 2. If you are importing your files from other programs that export SVG's or DXF's that don't actually have true curve geometry, but segmented curves, then that might be your problem. How to tell if your files are segmented curves - zoom way in to a file
