Hi folks,

i am often have the problem with fusion360 and the computer screensaver. Some times i leave the computer and look to the cnc-machine. This can been a while before i'm come back. So in between the computer runs into the screen saver. If i go back into fusion360 it happend's often that it has no response. It hangs and not comes back.

Is anybody out there that has the same problem and a fix for that? It is boring to restart fusion360 every time if i leave it alone for a while.

My guess is a lost network connection to the autodesk cloud and fusion is not able to renew that.

Hi @macmanpb

Thanks for posting. Occasional hangs with Fusion 360 after Mac OS wakes up from sleep or a screensaver are a known issue. I believe this is related to how Mac OS handles processes when waking up or being launched - sometimes it causes a hang.

One trick to this is to use a password whenever the computer is woken - require a password immediately after the screensaver is enabled to re-enter the computer.

I hope this helps! While occasional hangs are expected here, it should not occur too frequently. Please let me know if how frequently this is occurring and we'll go from there - I'm happy to assist.

Hi @paul.clauss,

Thank you for your reply and tips. I will look if the behavior is better with an activated screensaver password.

Hi @paul.clauss,

after some testings i have found that the screensaver password trick keeps fusion360 alive for a couple of hours. Is the time even longer, fusion360 is tending to hang. But like you say, the password trick minimize the tends to hang and thats that i can confirm.

But the question is, what differs between password and no password. If you have normal screensaver or a wake from sleep MacOS brings you right away to the latest activated app. With a password, there is the lock screen and you have to enter the passphrase. So MacOS and Fusion360 has time to restore some binding's and lib's. If the sleeping time to long MacOS energy management cut's off some needed pipes for fusion360 and at that point there can't get it back to work properly.

That my simple thoughts about that.
