Fusion 360 freezing up when trying to drive joints.

Working on building a gear assembly, and everytime I try to drive the joints for the gears 360 freezes, and unfreezes once the movement happens (that which cannot be seen through the freeze). Any suggestions? I have gone through all of the forum posts I can find regarding issues similar to this, and have taken every solution step in them. Out of ideas here. Any help is much appreciated 🙂

Hi,

Can you please share your model and also a video of the issue if possible so that that can help in analysing the issue.

Thanks

Cancel contact sets

Ground a stationary part

Create Motion Links (both are 2:1) to replace the contact sets.

You will never get gears to mesh and run using Contact Sets in Fusion 360, it is just to weak.  You will have to use Motion Links.  I have added these to your model and attached it.  The only problem I am facing right now is how to get the teeth in mesh.  They are the right ratio as you can drag them and see this.  I will think about it more and try to get back to you.

I found out how to synchronize the gears so I attached a new model.  If you need to process, let me know and I will create a Screencast.

You are very close, before you create the motion link, position the gear relationship and then make sure you allow the capture position to occur as you begin to create the motion link.

Sorry, I found the gears in position, without saving the pending one- that's better than close.

deleted your Capture position and they reverted.

Very much appreciated.  If you get a chance, could you detail what steps you took to achieve this? And possibly what steps I can take to avoid this in the future. Admittedly I am not very adept at problem solving with Fusion.

As I mentioned before and in the video, Contact Sets are very weak and undependable in Fusion 360.  In your case, Motion Links work just fine.  You can choose to Animate Model using Rev5 if you want to drive the assembly.  Screencast is attached and I attached another copy of the model as well.
