Fusion 360 freezing every time I do basically anything, normally when sketching and projecting geometry on sketch. Already re-installed fusion, but the problem still remains. Help please!!!

You aren't alone!

There is this one:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/fusion-lags-and-or-stops-responding-every-time-i-d...

My machine is hanging for HOURS when I switch between Model and Manufacture:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/switching-between-model-and-cam-mode/td-p/8605932

Something is wonky with the latest update it's looking like to me!

Hi @Anonymous

Can you please post the file so we can try working with it? Does Fusion crash with other files or just this one?

@mattsc This may not be the same issue as yours. I'm responding to your thread with some more info.

@Anonymous  I have no problem at all working with your design so must be something with your install. There were a couple of people experiencing problems in this thread, seems they'd deleted the default project and had no other projects on thier hub.

Probably be a good idea to get your diagnostic file and attach to this thread. Your file runs fine on my PC.

Hopefully @karina.harper  can take a look at your diagnostics. Can you also get a copy of your graphics diagnostics and try enabling limit effects.

It looks like this is a graphics card issue that is happening particularly with older macs.

I did some research and you might try updating your NVidia drivers - here's a forum thread that has some directions to update the drivers that provides better performance. If you try this, will you let me know how it goes and if it fixes the issue?

Thanks!

Hi Karina. i'm a bit afraid of updating the graphics drivers.

I've tried doing project geometry in other files in fusion and work ok. And why Fusion worked fine until the last update and now just freezes. Can the problem be a bug in fusion? is there another way i can fix it, instead of updating the drivers for the graphics board?

Hi @Anonymous

You might try:

  • Updating to OS 10.14.
  • You could also try changing a preference setting in Fusion.
  1. Go to Your Name menu, upper right corner
  2. Pick preferences
  3. On the first page, switch graphics driver from Automatic to “OpenGL Core Profile”.

If those don't work, then updating the graphics driver is probably your best bet. This may have been triggered by a recent update, and it has been logged. Our team is looking into it.

Hi Karina,

Thanks again for all the support.

Unfortunately no, i have a Macbook Pro mid 2010. 😞

Already tried to switch the graphics driver from Automatic to "openGL core profile" but with no success.

So you're unable to update to 10.14? What OS are you currently on?

!0.13.6, but at Apple they say my Macbook Pro (mid 2010) isn’t updatable.

"macOS Mojave System Requirements

MacBook Air (Mid-2012 or later)
MacBook Pro (Mid-2012 or later)

Ok I see. Thanks for clarifying.

I think your best bet is updating the graphics drivers. Like I said we're looking into why this is happening, but that will take some time to figure out.

Updating the drivers shouldn't do any harm to your computer - this is a standard operation if you have a PC and in my mind it's surprising it doesn't get talked about more in the mac community. If you look through the thread I linked, everyone had great results with the driver update.

Hi Karina,

many thanks!

I've tried to install the driver but with no success.

I just have to wait until the next fusion update and hope it's fixed.
