Fusion 360 crashes on start (urgent)

Hello everyone,
I got up this morning and tried to open the software,
And it closes straight without error.
I worked according to the guides available,
I updated a video card, checked that the antivirus does not interfere with it,
My computer goes far beyond what the software needs.
And still unable to open the software,

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

I have a windows 10 laptop no recent updates or changes, on 10/29 i believe the update locked me out of fusion. I uninstalled/reinstalled several times. I deleted files in accordance with whatever thread, and tonight i said hell with it and wiped the entire file from my computer after uninstalling yet again, the reinstalled... still nothing.

For everyone: when re-installing please use this process:

For anyone that moved to OS X Catalina 10.15.7 we do not have any easy solution at this time since the true fix needs to come from Apple. We are getting in contact with Apple to escalate the issue. Uninstall and reinstall for this particular OS is not going to help.

@joejones143 From your description does sound like a different issue. Can you please provide the below details?

  1. Does Fusion crash after it has launched or is Fusion hanging on launch?
  2. Are you on version 2.0.11415 (at the time of this message) ?
  3. Can you collect webservice logs and application logs per this article and attach here?
  4. Can you also please collect your system info file
  5. 1. Type in System Information in your Windows search box and Open the resulting OS application
    2. Go to System Summary -> Software Environment -> Windows Error Reporting
    3. Go to File -> Export and save it  in a location of your choice
    4. Send us the resulting file

My issue, I double click the icon, my cursor switches to the loading cursor for 3-4 seconds and then nothing happens. right click and run as admin, same story. open file folder, click launchfusion.exe, same story. right click and run on either the onboard or dedicated graphic card has no effect, both have current drivers that haven't updated in ages.

As mentioned, my software updated 10/29, so whatever that version is. Then i've deleted and reinstalled the version in the web installer. 2.0.11415 seems to be the current version.

I cannot send you the windows error logs, long story, but if you tell me what you're looking for I can tell you if it's there.

Good Evening,

Yeah I have not been able use Fusion for a week now. Everytime I open it just freezes. Using PC windows 11 professional. At this rate I really do not know if I can keep using Fusion. I teach high school students and need this program daily. When I cant open Fusion I can't teach.

So far Sketchup and Onshape have been great and dont crash at all but I miss the capabilities of Fusion.

MAybe this will get fixed?

@Anonymous Can you please provide the below details? There are a couple of different issues being reported for Windows. For one we know the issue and trying to fix but the workaround is that once your uninstall and reinstall, Fusion should continue working.

Anything related to Windows 11, we are looking for more information.

From your description does sound like a different issue. Can you please provide the below details?

  1. Does Fusion crash after it has launched or is Fusion hanging on launch? Does it generate a crash error report to be submitted?
  2. Are you on version 2.0.11415 (at the time of this message) ?
  3. Can you collect webservice logs and application logs per this article and attach here?
  4. Can you also please collect your system info file

Fusion usually just freezes when I open it up. I have recently run the cleaner.exe which allowed me to open and create some designs but it will crash or freeze randomly now.

I plan on unistalling and reinstalling the software tomorrow.

I use the educational version.

As I detailed above, the problem is Apple's 2021-007 security update for Catalina 10.15.7. You can simply roll back to Catalina without the security update as I wrote above until this is resolved. Reinstalling via macOS recovery only reinstalled Catalina without the security update...e.g. I didn't have to reinstall other software etc.

Not true...the security update is what has caused many other apps to not function also. This fix is to reinstall 10.15.7 and then don't allow your machine to update further with the security update.

Here is an update on this thread. There are 3 kinds of issues being called out here:

1. If you are on Windows 10 AND 2.0.11186, experiencing this, Fusion launches but after say about 10 seconds quick exits without any crash report then we know what is causing this problem and working to provide a fix. The workaround for this one is to uninstall Fusion and move to the newest Fusion version and this should address the issue.

2. If you are on Mac OS X 10.15.7 and picked up the latest security update 2021-007 from Apple (it was posted on October 25), then Fusion will crash on launch and present you with a crash report dialog. We know the root cause of this and this is purely Apple's update that is causing the problem. We have opened a enterprise ticket with Apple on this impact. Right now, the workaround that at least some of our customers have seen success is posted in this thread

3. If you are on Windows 11 or OS X Monterey and you Fusion hangs on launch, this is the one we dont have root cause yet and are trying to figure out what could be happening. If you are hitting this then we would like the below details:

We are testing internally on Windows 11 and OS X Monterey to officially start to support Fusion 360. We will update our system requirements when we have all of our validations complete.

@joejones143 We took a look at your web service log that you attached. From those logs nothing suspicious looking out. I know you mentioned that you cannot share the system info files etc. I am looking for a couple more things from you. Rather than expanding this thread, I am going to be emailing you with details that are needed so that we can continue the conversation in email. I will post back here once we have an idea of what is happening on your machine so that if there are any others in that situation they get the required data.

@dmk166The key question I have about reinstalling my OS to roll back is: will my system be otherwise preserved?  Basically I'd like to avoid over writing my system and having to start from scratch and back ups.  To be clear, I am backed up and could get back to square one, but that's hassle I'd like to avoid.  I can never tell when I initiate with command-R if I am going to over write my system or not.  It does not give you the option as the OS update does to either overwrite or preserve your system.  Can you share your experience?  Thanks!

@google9A72Q This is the security update from Apple 2021-007 that is causing this issue. We are working with Apple on this crash issue.
