Fusion 360 2.0.15293 x86_64 [Native]
Active Plan: Personal
macOS 13.1 (22C65) on MacBookPro14,3

I have been inserting canvases for a couple of years with no issues and now Fusion crashes every time.

I click Insert from menu item

I select file from my computer

Fusion spins for 20 seconds, asks me to select a Plane

I select a plane

Fusion spins for a minute or two and crashes

Thanks for reporting the problem! I saw several crash reports from your account. Is it related to specific file or any selected file for canvas will lead Fusion crashes? If it is related to a specific file, please help to share the file for further investigation. Did you upgrade MacOS recently or not?

Thanks,

Steven

It is any file, I tried a file that I successfully inserted a few weeks ago and it crashed on it as well.

I upgraded to the latest version of Ventura a week ago, but I see there is another update available now.  I will upgrade and retry the insert but it will take a while and it is late here so I won't try the insert until morning, I will reply again then.

Thanks

OK, no problem. I just tried it on the Ventura(13.2) and latest Fusion version(2.0.15293), inserting canvas is working fine on my machine.

I upgraded to 13.2.  I successfully inserted a canvas that was inserted in the past, but the file I want to insert still causes a crash.

I figured it out, it is the file size.  Do you know what the max size is?  I am converting a .pdf to a .jpg so I can insert it, but the .pdf is 2.7mb.  The .jpg ends up 55+mb.  Am I correct in the understanding that I cannot insert or import a .pdf?

OK, I don't know the exactly maximum size for Canvas, but the big file size may leads to some performance issue. If you can share the failed inserted file, I can have a try to see whether it is still failed on my side or not.

Yes, PDF is not a image file and not supporting for canvas. You may using PNG and other image file format to reduce the file size.

Thanks,

Steven

I tried to send the file to you yesterday and it failed because it was too big. Error said file exceeded 5000K. That is what led me down the path to try to reduce the size.
