Fusion 360 crashes and closes right after being open

I downloaded the latest update of Fusion 360. But every time I click on the icon to run it as soon as it opens up it closes abruptly.

The only way to get it to start is by clicking the icon a couple of dozens of time. It the opens a dozen of instances of Fusion 360 all at the same time. I need to click to close them one by one and leave only one open.

Any idea what causes this bug?

Thank you

@rsamvelyan I see you posted specs of 2 machines - Windows 10 and Windows 11. You are seeing the issue on both these machines?

You mentioned that on launch the program closes right away. Can you please try these to see if they make a difference?

1. Please check to ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. This is the first that we would like you to try and see if that fixes the issue.

2. Create Environment Variable "QT_OPENGL" with value "software" - Does this stop this issue?

Please let us know if any of these help with the problem.

Hello Rajkumar. Thanks for you reply.

It is the same machine.

These below are a copy paste from Fusion 360 About:

2.0.12164
Active Plan: Fusion 360, Personal
Windows 10 Home 21H2 x86_64 (22000.493)

The other one is from Windows (About my machine...)

GPU is up to date.

I added the env var.

Still same issue

@rsamvelyan Sorry about the late reply here. Here are a couple of things that we would like you to try and also information needed.

1. I have had a customer that got a similar situation to work after the environmental variable but uninstalled and reinstalled Fusion 360. They still kept the variable and this got them back working.

2. If you can use this article and collect the web services logs that would be helpful for us.

3. Are you running any other Autodesk software on this machine?

4. Lastly, if you are comfortable installing and using process monitor for Windows, this will let you know what is happening when you launch Fusion 360. I believe you will be able to collect logs from there and share it to understand what specifically is happening on your machine that is causing this problem.

We hope we can identify what is happening quickly here and get you back to using the product.

Hi,

in my case this happens every time when you release a new update of fusion360. Then it crashes az startup and i have to reinstall fusion360 with the installer, and from this point on it works until you release the next fusion update.

Sometimes i had a message in my message bar that my version is not supporting online updates, or update starts and hangs at 0%.

@xpuipc When it crashes do you get a report to send to Autodesk or does it quick exit to the desktop? Are you on Windows 11 as well?

If you can share your log files that would be great to see what is happening.

Hi @RajkumarIlanchelian,

yes i am on win11 and no there is no report, just disappearing from the screen to desktop like when you close it. It seems to happen before the left menu bar appears i only get a short view on the working area and then it disappears like described.

After updating with the downloaded updater it works until the next update of Fusion is released. This is happens since months, can not say if this is correlated to win10 to win11 update. I once tried your "update/remove from bottom up" procedure but no success...I am localized in Germany and I use german language, not sure if this has an influence.

Thank you

@xpuipc I take it from the logs that the system is working fine for you at this time but when we push a new update is when you are encountering the cannot launch Fusion successfully issue. Can you help with some more information?

1. later today we are going to be pushing a new update for Fusion 360 (should be 2.0.12392)
2. Please update to this version
3. Per your previous experience, launching after this update should crash Fusion 360

If it does this, before you uninstall Fusion 360, can you please do the following?

1. Close all other applications if possible

2. Download Process Monitor for windows and run the exe
3. Start capture in process monitor

4. Launch Fusion

5. When it shutdown - Save in process monitor

Attach file here. We are hoping this could show into what is happening on your machine.

I am hoping that this will give us more information on what exactly is happening on your machine after our update and why it is not launching correctly for you.

I hope we can identify what is happening here quickly and get this working for you.

Just installed the latest Fusion version and it doesn't crash anymore. Not sure if it's because of that EnvVar I had added.

By the way the auto update hadn't worked. So I had to re-install it manually.

And by the way, there are still a few bugs from that haven't been fixed since a long time now. If interested I can list them.

@rsamvelyan We have not soled the windows 11 problem yet. My assumption is that when Fusion 360 updates again it will cause the same issue for you.

@xpuipc Looking at the logs now. Thank you
