Fusion 360 constantly logging me out

Hi,

I don't know if this is an issue in the strictest sense, however, if I don't use Fusion 360 for a few days the next time I come to use it I have been logged out. This has always been the case ever since I installed the software. This wouldn't be too much of an issue if I remembered all of my passwords, however, I use a password manager with two-factor authentication. F360 isn't compatible with browser style password manager plugins, so logging in and copying over my username and password every time I use Fusion is becoming laborious.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi @Anonymous,

Couple quick things - its a few days or a few weeks? Fusion will after 2 weeks of not logging in prompt you to re-validate your login credentials. 

Also, do you use the Autodesk Desktop App or other Autodesk software on your machine with a different account? These credentials (I believe) all get stored in a similar log and it may be overwriting the stored credentials.

Hi James,

I'll keep better track of the inactive duration. I didn't think it was a much as two weeks but I'll check.

No other Autodesk software is installed so I don't think that's the cause.

First of all, I'm really sorry if replying to this old thread makes anybody even remotely upset.

That said, it's almost 2021, it still happens constantly again.

Every time Fusion360 doesn't get used for just a few days (not even a week), it prompts for login again (me too using BitWarden with 2FA enabled), also, another thing that really, REALLY freaks me out is that 'cause Fusion and other programs are not for Linux I must keep a Windows instance installed on my PC, tho that idiot AF of an OS keeps getting the clock changed back from the UTC standard time that everybody but Microsoft adopted for the local hardware clock; that means every time I boot into Linux for some "real work" (developer here), Windows gets back one hour, and if I don't remember to update it before opening Fusion, it will ask for login again even if it was used 10 minutes before, and it will ask for it again and again due to the time discrepancy with the server, without even throwing an error. (oh, and the same thing happens when you try to load Fusion while offline for some reason, like you forgot you deactivated WiFi, or your connection isn't too good, then please login again), so annoying...

Again, if this old thread wasn't to be ever replied even with an identical issue, I'm sorry for that; tho I really like the way that Fusion handles 3D models differently than any competitor and I'm a happy Free for Hobbyist user since almost 2 years; but this freaks me out every couple of days...!

This is the second old thread I've dug up on old issues Autodesk doesn't want to fix.

I have the same login problem, accept when it happens, I have to completely uninstall the software, and dependencies, and then wait 20 minutes for it to reinstall. at this point I'm wondering if this program was created as an April fools joke. There is no way companies are this lenient on putting up with bugs and issues like this, but I could be wrong.

Point being, if you're having issues, they aren't going to be fixed here because none seems to know what's happening or why. They provide nuclear option tools but never really solve the issues at hand. I recommend if you want working software with common sense. cast your capitalism ballots on a different company that want's to produce working software. It's a shame, because when it works it works well, but something tells me that working well isn't in the fusion360 business plan.

Go in a store (online too) right now and grab a Windows 10 "Pro" license for more than 200$, and then expect to find something that isn't either half broken and to reinstall every year or less, or so slow to adopt fixes that by the time your annoying bug has been resolved another three came to life and they bite you even more every single day.

Remember, you aren't a "free" Windows user anymore, you paid for a "professional" license, meaning that you work with your pc, you use it to generate revenue, and that's the level of support you get from them (level 1 reps don't even know how to change the default hostednetwork IP range from 192.168.137.0/24 to something else). Better be able to flex enough to spend 1500$+ / license on Enterprise then (and have the same level of support anyway).

With Autodesk it's the same thing, you never really own a "product" (you don't even "own" it but I digress), you own a promise that in a distant future, when you'll all have paid them a couple of years worth of free revenue for doing what seems absolutely nothing in fixing their issues (plus their retirement funds as well), after all, they might deliver a half working "something", maybe...

This mentality is very much what I can't stand with these types of companies and I know for a fact they are slowly destroying themselves with it. Mark my words, Microsoft, Autodesk, and even the obvious game companies are going to crumble from the shear lack of apathy towards making something that feels as solid as free alternatives. though scouring forms I've discovered free cad. My only problem with it is the learning curve, but at times I have no choice. I'm literally being forced away from the product because of this. Even now, the only reason I'm back here is because it stopped working again after an hour or two of having it closed. So now it's 45 minutes before I can use it again.

I'm not sure I completely understand what your angle is on this, but I was considering paying for the program because I really liked it. However, you can't justify a purchase for something that just straight up doesn't work. 

Oh well, I hope people see this and realize that supporting this mentality only ads paper to the fire.

@Anonymous interesting discovery with the time thing. This has been happening for me for the past few weeks, and coincidentally my computer automatically switched time on November 7th. I wonder if it's related.

This happens to me on my home PC every time,. It doesn't matter if it's 2 days or 2 weeks. I have to log in again. On my work PC however I can go without using Fusion for 2 months or more and it won't have me log back in again.

I get prompted to re-login fairly frequently. I do not use Fusion 360 but this thread came up on a Google search and I'm tired of support doing nothing about it. Especially when they say "it must be you because we've never heard of this before".

AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit are my Autodesk programs. This week it has happened 3 times in 4 days where I am in the middle of working with 1 Revit file and 2 Navis files open and all of a sudden I am prompted to log in. I have been logged out of all software. Navis freezes and must be force closed can't even save. Revit shuts down.

Sometimes weeks go by and it works. Sometimes it's once or more per day this happens.

No one has my password and could be logging in as me, I am our software manager so I know everything is assigned, products and license up to date through Desktop App. I am the only user on my computer.

Attached image is from one of the occurences this week. I was in the middle of using Revit, I went to open CAD and all this popped up on me. Broken window on the bottom is from when I tried to log back in, ended up doing a full restart.

Would be great if the "free tier" (hobbyist/maker license, whatever you're calling it this week) didn't need to login every X days. I'm sure keeping tight track of logins for $$$ enterprise users matters a lot, but having to go dig out my password from google password manager means I have another chance to evaluate another product, preferably one without a nag screen asking me to login yet again

I have been using "free tier" of Fusion 360 for 2 years on my iPad.  about 6 mon ago, it started to log me out daily.  It is so inconvenient to type long email and password each time.   Anyone has suggestion?

Why does it need to do this after 2 weeks? Very annoying. What is the value-add of doing so, from the user's perspective?
