First, in the documentation about getting started with Fusion it does not give an overview of the storage structure including when and why to use projects vs. folders. I originally created projects even though as a single user using single user storage I had no need for multiple projects. I later learned that projects are really a unit of access control and primarily for sharing with teams.
Next single user vs team storage is not clearly explained and I found that after purchasing a comercial license to be able to use configurations that I had to move my design files into team storage for the configuration feature to work.
- I do not know why this is required.
- I do not know what other differences there are between team and personal storage
- I do know that team storage is much slower and I am often watching the spinner when I save a design to team storage.
Managing projects, folders and files is extremely inconvenient. I wish the interface was similar to the file browser available in every operating system: with two panes, drag and drop, etc.
Some of the specific issues that I have:
- it is not possible to delete a project from the Fusion data panel. I must use the web interface for this. Also, I must archive the project first. This is true even if the project is empty.
- sometimes when I try to move a file or folder in the data panel the move dialog opens and has no possible destinations.
- folders in the data panel cannot be moved. There is no move option available when right clicked.
- search is "hidden" in the title bar of the data panel. This is much less obvious than if it was inside the panel itself with an always visible text box available for typing a search term. Given that the view of available documents is so restricted in the data panel, search should be more visible and more powerful.
- "Open on the Web" is only available when a project is open in the data panel. It should be available all the time. This also applies to the gear icon for settings. At least some of those would be useful when viewing the list of projects.
- Move To dialog does not maintain state. It be very helpful if it at least remembered the size I set it to. It would also be useful if it remembered the project folder tree location as that same containing folder is likely the destination for the next move.
