Free Version Limitations

Hello, I was looking to learn Fusion 360 for personal use creating things for my 3D printing.  However, your "Free"" personal copy (which I satisfy all your requirements to use), has no model panel and no Make selection for a 3D printer.  I am a hobbyist, I do not own a business or sell anything.  I just want to make things for myself around my house.  In reading other post, they say that the "Free" version is not limited in any way and is exactly like the full version. However, I was doing the tutorials and I cannot follow along because the Model preset in not available and several other menu items they reference are not available in my "Free" version. Is htere someting I am missing or someting I do not have turned on? Thanks in advance, Anthony Dallalio

The UI recently underwent a big change - everything is still there, but has a different name.

Go to the Tools tab and you should see MAKE.

Although don't really need those tools as you could also File>Export to *.stl

I have been using the new UI since it was in Preview and don't even remember the old UI, but I suspect the Model is what is now called SOLID...

The free license is mostly the same as the paid commercial license - especially for anything a beginner would be doing.

Thanks for the reply.  I guess the drop down is now called Design instead of Model.  That's the problem with learning a new software.  The development of the software is so rapid and done in real time that the tutorials are dated almost the week after they are produced.  I am following the tutorials from their website from the email they sent me when i signed up.

Even with that preset (Design) dropdown selected, I still do not see a export to 3D printer under the Make tab.  In fact I don't even see a make tab with the design preset selected. Can you tell me where the 3D printer export is found?

I guess I will just have to find what I need as I go along.  At least I am happy to know that this "free" version is not a limited version and everything should be available to me.  I just have to find some new tutorials with the updated UI.  Do you or anyone else have a link to some up-to-date tutorials?
Thanks again,

Anthony

Wow,  that was quick.  Perfect!  I hope they update their tutorials quickly.  The UI appears to be  completely different than the old version.  Very confusing to a newbi.
Thanks again.

Hi,

Would you mind sharing a link to the tutorials that are outdated and don't have the new UI?

<cough> Ahem, well... the free version is no longer technically the same as the general version. However, only a few things are missing, chiefly generative design and Inventor interoperability.

Hi,
I am doing all of the beginners tutorials. I have finished all the Getting
Started for Absolute Beginners

and
I am now working on Introduction to 3D Modeling
.
However, all
of these tutorial videos use the old UI, Here is one I am currently working
(Lesson 13: Create and edit Face and Cylinder freeform bodies) on and it
tells me to click on the Sculpting work-space but there is no Sculpting
work-space any longer and I do not know how to bring up the Sculpting
work-space with all the tools on top.

So I googled it and here is the answer, but an up-to-date UI in the
tutorials would be so much easier.
