Free form thicken seems to results in incorrect thickness.
Used a cylinder below to demonstrate. Seems the normals of faces are simplified to control frame?
This is even larger error gap for more complex surface.

Accepted solution
Thickening in the T-spline environment offset the control frame by the specified dimension. That does not result in the resulting surface being offset from the original by that distance.
If you need more precision, you need to subdivide the model more, or use the thickening feature in the Surface tab.,
