Flatten surface from body

Hi, I'm trying to flatten/fold out a face from a body I made. In the first picture you can see the body, the front face of the body has to be cut out of a piece of sheetmetal with a watercutter. That's why I've to flatten this front face. In an attempt of doing this, I made an offset in patch mode so the front face is separated from the rest of the body (second picture). But when I try to flatten this in Sheetmetal mode I can't select anything. Hope someone can help me. I don't have that much experience with Fusion.

You'll need to thicken it to say 2mm then combine it with an existing sheet metal flange that is also 2mm thick. Then you should be able to select it and a flat face to unfold from. When combining the flange and the thickened body select the flange first. The flange can be a small rectangle.

Here's a screencast I made for someone else. Just make sure the flange and thickened part are the same thickness. There might be a problem with your part though as I don't see any seams where the arc starts, was the whole surface created from a Spline? If it was you might not have a flat face on the part.

Hi Mark, Thanks for your quick response. everything worked out fine as you described till the moment when i have to select the flange part for unfolding. Does it matter where the rectangle flange is placed?

The base of the main object is extruded (loft) from a rectangle with half a circle attached to it. So there has to be a 2 flat surfaces on the sides.

Thanks a lot!

I think the problem is the sides of your part are not truly flat. One thought is add the sheet metal part as a small tag on one side, this should allow you to flatten then delete the tag. You need to make sure the tag is tangent to the edge you probably need to use plane at angle or you might need to construct a sketch to give you 2 edges to use to create a plane.

Can you share the model here? If not PM me and I give you my email address.
