So I have a curved part as shown above.
I'd like to flatten this out in order to cnc route the part. Accuracy is not super important as any resultant body I would add a few millimeters on all edge faces for final manual fitting.
My thinking the only approach ( not impossible but lengthy ) is to;
1. pick a central refence point in the middle of the part projected in space.
2. Create a series of offset planes in both Y and Z axis's
3. On each offset plane, create a sketch and project the intersected face
4. Project the plane into the same sketch, then draw a line from there to the projected intersected control point spline
5. Use that intersection to break the control point spline at that point so via the Inspect command I can get the length of each "half" of the control point spline relative to the reference point.
6. Create a set of these control point spline lengths in both axis relative to the reference point, plot them on a sketch and use a fit point spline through the points.
Anyone have any better ideas?
