Flatpattern changes model name

Hi,

Whem I am making welding assemblies with multipe components in it, I have a problem when it comes to flat patterns.  When I am finished with 3D modelling i make a multiple sheet drawing (automatically or manually) from the assembly.

Every component gets an unique number (component name). this number is shown in the title block as MODEL_PART_NO but when i add a flatpattern base view it, this MODEL_PART_NO changes to that of the assembly.

Sow long story short, i want that the component name is showing also when a flat pattern is added.

See the attachments, where a sheetmetal part is shown with and without flatpattern. Look at the number underneath (Tekening nr. (is dutch))

Does someone know how to fix this with or without other codes?

Hi @meubelmakerijheuvel

If you edit the properties of the flat pattern, you will see that it has a different part number. If you fill this in, it will reflect on the drawing.

Some customers have different part numbers for flat patterns versus folded.

I was to fast with accepting it as a solution, but i changed the part number of the flatpattern. (activate sheet metal, change properties - change part number - save - create again a new base view of the flat pattern). But the MODEL_PART_NO is still related to the assembly and not to the flat pattern or sheet metal file.

Please send me a link to the 2D drawing

The Title block is pulling information from this reference, as expected. I need to see if you need all of the other browser nodes above the part at the bottom.

Hi @meubelmakerijheuvel

Apologies, it looks like there is currently an outage on downloads, I'm sure that the service will be restored soon.

It's a bit tricky to help without the file. But, can you try deleting the reference (in the browser) highlighted below. It should leave just the reference for the flat pattern.

See the pictures below. If i delete the reference you mention. I will delete the other view which i need also in this drawing sheet. On the other hand when i delete it te flatpattern remains and the right MODEL_PART_NO is displayed. So er is some kind of relation to the whole assembly which comes in when i add an flat pattern.

I tried to add first the flat pattern and then the other views. The issue stays the same. When the flat pattern is added the right number is shown. When i add the other views too the number from the assembly is shown.

Thanks for the effort. I think i did not explain myself in the right way.

What i am searching for is the right part number in the titleblock. The file i shared with you has a text overlapping the linked property to get the right number there for the manufacturer.

in the picture below this text is moved (blue encircled).

So this issue is regarding to the red encircled property. when i add a second base view to this sheet ( in this case it is a flat pattern which i add) this part number property goes from component number back to the assembly number.

This happens only when i add a second base view.

1102-0101 is the part number of the assembly and 1102-0101-103 is a buildin component of that assembly.

Hi @albertUF7HB

Take a look at this explainer video:

Here is a temporary video which will expire in 3 days (it might be faster than waiting for the video above to process):

Thankyou for the explaining. It is clear for me now why it is referenced back to the assembly. Now i am looking how i can automate this. So in my template i have a sheet where sheetmetal parts are created automatically. How can i automate it that i don't have to add every time a custom text box which is referenced to show the right number?
