[FIXED] - Black Toolbars/Missing Toolbars After the April 27th Update

Hi all,

Some of you may have experienced the symptoms described in this support article.   Late last night, Fusion 360 pushed out an update to address and fix this issue. By updating Fusion 360 to 2.0.10148 - the black toolbar issue should disappear.

For anyone who used the environment variable workaround via the support article/troubleshooting - you can go ahead and remove the environment variables once Fusion 360 has successfully updated, as these may cause issues with other softwares.

For those who cannot see or update Fusion 360 to the latest version - if possible, use the workaround in the support article above to add the environment variables temporarily. This will allow you to load Fusion 360. Once Fusion is launched, in the clock icon in the upper-right will be a 1. Click this icon to view the status of the update process, and restart Fusion 360 once the update is completed.

Alternatively - Fusion 360 can be updated manually, by reinstalling Fusion 360 from your products and services page via Autodesk Accounts.

If you need any help, or have any questions, please leave a comment.

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous ,

Just to check - did you set up any environment variables as a workaround before the hotfix? Does adding/removing the variables have any impact on the black bars? Feel free to reach out to me, if you need the instructions on how to do so.

Thanks,

Also not working for me. I have removed the Environment Variables after the update, although it was never clear exactly what to use, software or angle or both. I will add Environment Variables back in.
Also had OpenGL error dialogs box mentioning angle.

It's very erratic, sometimes it works.

Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 630

Hi,

Do a CLEAN UNINSTALL before you turn any other screws.

I did the full removal with the removal tool, did a clean install, and then created and set a new system environment variable "QT_OPENGL" with value "software"  (no quotes for either) and then I get the tool bars.  If I then remove the environment variable, the black bars returned.  I put back the QT_OPENGL environment variable and left it set.  Seems to be working now--even with my older AMD Radeon 6900 series GPU, which yes, I'd love to update to a new nVidia GPU IF YOU COULD ACTUALLY BUY ONE!  Nor can I update the driver, as AMD isn't providing further updates.
