Fit Point Spline Tangent Handle Unexpected Behavior

Hello All,

Seeing unexpected and for my design undesirable behavior with Fit Point Spline Tangent Handles.

When I Rectangular Pattern Fit Point Splines the spline Tangent Handles are copied and at first activated as shown in the attached screen shot.  However, as soon as I edit ANY of the sketch User Parameters (dimensions), the Tangent Handles revert to the default length and angle which is not desirable for my design as shown in the second attached screen shot.  I have also attached the F360 file. Is  there a way to keep all the spline Tangent Handles activated and with the length and Horizontal constraint as shown in the patterned Fit Point Spline?  If not, I don't see how my design can be parameterized.

Thanks for any guidance.

Joe

Hi,

Basically avoid such patterns in sketch mode.

emboss param.gif
Instead, just sketch a sequence, extrude it, and then create the pattern.
The profile for embossing is then generated by projecting the bodies into a sketch.

Important: The sketch length must be slightly shorter than the circumference of the body.

Otherwise you will get a warning.

Thanks for the detailed explanation and screencast.  I used the process you documented and it solved the problem.

It is a few more steps than the Sketch Rectangular Pattern and to add to the pattern count I must edit the Projected Sketch but overall a great workaround.  Thanks for taking the time to document this.  Adds to my knowledge of what works well and what is currently not working as desired.
