Files Not Saving

I'm having issues with my files saving. It's only on a few files I've seen this so far. When I hit save the little spinning thing over the file picture just stays there with a little exclamation mark at the top right that says file is not available. It's been an hour since I hit save to the time I'm typing this and it's still stuck. I don't even have access to the window with the pause stalled uploads button. If I try to close fusion it says I've got 5 files pending upload even though I've only opened maybe 4 files today and only saved 1 for sure.

Last week I had tried to save as one of these to work on another part that's identical. I finished the new file in a few minutes and saved it. The file had shown up in its folder after the save as, but after the couple changes and saving again it doesn't show up anywhere .

I'm on a team but I don't think that's the issue. As I got ready to type this I think I might have realized what the issue is but I'm not sure how to resolve it. Both files I'm having issues with contain a component that was started as a scan. I just used that app polycam on my phone and scanned my part and did a crude outline. I think the mesh in that original file is screwing things up. My thought was to export the solid from that file I think is causing the issue, delete the file, and import the .sat file. The issue is that I can't delete the original because it says it's referenced in other files.

PS I'd love to upload the files here for someone to look at, but I can't. No matter how many times I've tried to download the fusion archive from the website or fusion it says export failed. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, logging out and back in, trying on another computer both on my account and on another account linked to the team.

@dlewis1000 Couple of things:

1. Are these files getting stuck in the upload queue? (If you click on the clock icon at the top right, you should see the job status in which you can see if there are any pending uploads)

2. If you go to Help - support and diagnostics - get diagnostics logs - This will generate a zip that you can attach here. The logs could help to understand what could be happening.

Also, with the description of how you started the file, it could just be a large file that you are dealing with and Fusion may not be handling the large file correctly. What is your internet upload speed (to see if a low upload Sheed could also be an issue).

In terms of sharing the file, would you be open to inviting me into your project for access? Don't need it yet but after looking at the logs if that could help and if you are having difficulty to export, inviting to the project is an option.

They do not show up in the upload queue at all but the icon next to the files is still showing spinning and one still says reserved by me. I pulled the log file out and it's attached here.

I won't be able to invite you to the team because I'm not the owner. I just have access to their computer through anydesk and I also have their main login for fusion but I'm not permitted to do any admin stuff even though I technically have access.

@RajkumarIlanchelian  while just poking around I found the service utility. Just for fun I hit repair fusion to see if maybe something is wrong even though I reinstalled just a few days ago. It said there are multiple instances of fusion running. In the task manager there's 17 sub-processes under fusion. Seems like a lot.

@dlewis1000 The logs are also showing a lot of errors and I am trying to find out what could be happening. What you see in task manager is certainly not normal.

1. Close Fusion 360
2. Goto task manager and end task any Fusion 360 exe in there
3. Restart the machine (the logs showed that Fusion 360 had not been shut down in over two days. This should be fine but considering we have many files that are not saving this could help)
4. now launch Fusion 360
5. Run Fusion 360
6. Now what do you see in the data panel? Are these still assigned to you as the one that has files open?
7. If you open a file that you are having trouble and do a small edit and save, does it help?

@RajkumarIlanchelian  I was just trying things while I waited for your reply. I kept fusion open and just started ending the sub processes under fusion. I figured at this point the files are either corrupt and I'm redoing the work or something will fix it so nothing could get worse. Here's the steps I ended up taking.

  1. close all sub processes one by one until only the ones that remain until fusion is closed were there
  2. restart fusion
  3. clear cache
  4. repair fusion

After doing these things I did a little change to one of the files I'm having issues with and it saved just fine. I can open the file back up with no issues. The strange thing is that the version numbers aren't correct but the work is still there, and before I opened it it still showed my icon saying reserved as well as the exclamation mark saying file not available, but it still opened. I know for a fact that V2 had very little work done, and V3 was complete and what got hung up saving on today's file. There was no V2 in the list yet the file showed all the work I know I saved as V3. I did a little change and saved, and it showed up as V3. Closed it and re-opened it, did another little change and now I'm back to the same behavior of it hanging up and 17 sub processes in task manager. Starting to think I need to reinstall windows.....again.

edit. I just tried to close fusion after posting this reply to see what it says. I only opened one file during this but fusion says there's 4 jobs remaining. Nothing at all shows in the job status in any of the 3 tabs.

@dlewis1000 Can you post a screen grab of the 17 process that is running? It looks like you are close to reproducing this more consistently but it would help to understand what are the process that you see running.

A machine restart is also a good way to flush out anything that is hanging on to the system.

@RajkumarIlanchelian  I can't seem to recreate the same 17 but now there's 12. Before there was more of the autocad component and QTWebEngineProcess that made up the 17.

dlewis1000_0-1686182221803.png

Again it seemed to work after clearing cache for a 2nd time and then after the first close the issue comes back. Every time I save a new version it gets stuck in limbo. If I open the version list and open V1, it asks me if I want to open the locally saved file. Keep in mind the 3 little dots next to each version only show up on V1. When I open that locally saved file it seems to kick it into gear and the version number in the list updates to what it's supposed to be.

@dlewis1000 Thank you for adding the image. I am going to look for what could be happening here.

Now a couple of things to run to see if we can further isolate what could be happening:

1. Disconnect internet
2. launch Fusion 360
3. open the file that causes the issue
4. Do a small edit and then save
5. Now come back online which Fusion is running
6. Does the newly saved version successfully upload?

The next test would be:

1. Close Fusion 360 until there are no more tasks in the Task manager
2. Launch Fusion 360
3. Take a snap of the task manager
4. Open the file
5. Take a snap of task manager
6. Edit/save
7, Take a snap of task manager

At this point are all the extra events starting to launch?

@RajkumarIlanchelian

1. Disconnect internet
2. launch Fusion 360

Right after opening with no internet

dlewis1000_0-1686184291180.png

3. open the file that causes the issue

Directly after opening while offline

dlewis1000_1-1686184366383.png

4. Do a small edit and then save

The file closes fine and the spinning thing stops after a moment, but the version number does not change.
5. Now come back online which Fusion is running
6. Does the newly saved version successfully upload?

It doesn't have the spinning thing and I can open the file but the version number and time/date are clearly wrong. However this time the upload progress bar shows up in the data panel. That has not been showing up at all through all these issues. Now when I click that upload progress button it's showing 4 files trying to upload, but I only opened and changed one of them. 3 of the 4 files are different version of the same file.

dlewis1000_2-1686184531773.png

The next test would be:

1. Close Fusion 360 until there are no more tasks in the Task manager

I force closed everything in task manager related to autodesk even down in the background processes.
2. Launch Fusion 360
3. Take a snap of the task manager

dlewis1000_3-1686184670479.png

4. Open the file
5. Take a snap of task manager

dlewis1000_4-1686184733410.png

6. Edit/save
7, Take a snap of task manager

@dlewis1000 Thank you for running these tests for us. I think I know what I happening here based on the below. It certainly looks like your V2 of the file did not complete and was stuck. It may have been due to a network issue or any other issue. Now while this was trying to complete upload I think there were other saves attempted to be made, reset and uninstall happening etc that completely messed up the upload queue.

"It doesn't have the spinning thing and I can open the file but the version number and time/date are clearly wrong. However this time the upload progress bar shows up in the data panel. That has not been showing up at all through all these issues. Now when I click that upload progress button it's showing 4 files trying to upload, but I only opened and changed one of them. 3 of the 4 files are different version of the same file."

Now here is what we can do to make sure that all saves moving forward goes through fine.

1. First let's check your upload speed of your network. Would like to know if there is any slow network or slow upload speeds possible. Restarting your router would be a good step.

Then:

1. Close Fusion 360
2. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\UNIQUE ID\P.login\DELETE jobs.json

3. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\UNIQUE ID\W.login\DELETE folder Q
4. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\UNIQUE ID\W.login\DELETE UploadQueuedFileList.xml

5. Now start Fusion 360
6. Create a very simple design and save it
7. Go to the job status the file should upload quickly and you should see the file in your data panel
8. Now open your mail file - make a small change
9. Save
10. watch the job status - it should cleanly upload the file, update the version number and time stamp in the cloud without any problems

If after step 9 this file is still stuck in the job status, let it run for a few minutes and see if it completes. This is the place where we will know if it is a network issue. So if this gets stuck, then at this time please collect your logs files again and post. This will give us more indication and cleaner indication of what could be happening.

Apologies for all the back and forth but one stalled upload somewhere in the pipe line due to likely a network issue is triggering all your other experiences.

I don't typically have network issues with anything. My ping is a little higher than I'd like today but it's hardwired to the router and we're on a fiber hookup.

1. Close Fusion 360
2. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\UNIQUE ID\P.login\DELETE jobs.json

3. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\UNIQUE ID\W.login\DELETE folder Q
4. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\UNIQUE ID\W.login\DELETE UploadQueuedFileList.xml

As long as AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360 is the right path and the random character named folder is my unique id I think I got that part right

5. Now start Fusion 360
6. Create a very simple design and save it
7. Go to the job status the file should upload quickly and you should see the file in your data panel

The job status never shows a job, the progress bar at the bottom of the data panel never shows up, but it saves fine and when I close it it doesn't show reserved or with the error.
8. Now open your mail file - make a small change
9. Save
10. watch the job status - it should cleanly upload the file, update the version number and time stamp in the cloud without any problems

Same as before where I don't see it in the job status but it seems to save fine with no errors still.

@dlewis1000 @Good to know that you have really good speeds. Now from your experience after deleting those three files it looks like you are not facing any upload stuck errors any more ?

continue working on this and let us know if you hit this error again. I cannot exactly say where the upload got stuck and the. It caused that train wreck. Hopefully you should be all good moving forward.

@RajkumarIlanchelian  I still have the same issues with the original files. This didn't resolve anything. It worked fine with the simple design you asked me to create. Other files have been working fine. That's why I mentioned earlier that both of these files I'm having issues with are very similar and contain a component that was started with a mesh. I think that for some reason has caused this.

My file still has an error on it saying file is not available at the moment, but it will still open. I just did a minor change (turned on and off visibility) and saved it but this time as a milestone just so it's a little more obvious. It saved it as version 10 with no milestone indicator at all and when I close the file and wait a few minutes it still shows I have it open. I logged into the shops computer and opened fusion. It also shows I have it open. When I try to close fusion it says I have a job remaining but I see nothing in the job status tab.

@dlewis1000 Sorry. I read it wrong and assumed after deleting those three files I called out the queue was cleared and saves are good.

Is it still possible to contact the owner of the hub and see if they can invite a couple of engineers into the project?

@RajkumarIlanchelianI can do a zoom meeting or something with screen sharing but just giving access and waiting for an answer is not going to work for them, I won't even ask about that. If you're an autodesk employee and can provide credentials via email from a company email I might be able to get you access.

I am also having this issue I cannot update older projects.

from the log it looks like a cloud issue.... Saying the "Node does not exist" , or "the original source has been deleted from your cloud storage."

It seems like its missing a reference to something because I cannot "save as" or even export locally then upload it fails without displaying an error.

Need a fix for this asap...

I have narrowed it down, when I specify my machine for simulation in setup it will not save, but after remove the machine and deleting the machine from the document (Manage -> Machine library) it will then save. What is the cause for this?
