what is the best format to export from SolidWorks in to Fusion360. I get lots of broken and missing components.

You only have two other viable choices, STEP and SAT, try each and judge for yourself.

If you have a paid subscription you should be able to open SolidWorks files directly from your data panel.

Otherwise I recommend STEP (*.stp).

If there is stuff missing - attach example SolidWorks file here for diagnosis.  (I see a lot of rubbish from untrained SolidWorks users.)

if you try going the ACIS (*.sat) route - be sure to save as ACIS v7 as Autodesk products only read up to v7.  (By default, SolidWorks will save to a much later version of ACIS.)

Hi

i actually imported a solidworks direct into Fusion.  Went to open it and it converted the file to what format I don’t know, but the file opened. With every item intact. Down side though I must of had hundreds of bodies.
my work flow is to put a concept together in Fusion (I don’t use SW) agree with client, then export a STP file for my SW designer. That works very well. The down side is the revers, getting the file back into fusion. The fix above is ok bu could be better
