.f3z files are being converted to Adobe Acrobat files as a default, and there is no way to convert them back .... Because when you look to change the default, Fusion is in hidden files on the computer to point to the .f3z file, too.   I imagine this is because it is a cloud-based software.  Window will not let me delete that association ( that was done by mistake) to "All ways open with"   and now I can not name the .f3z files when I send them back and also can not open the file directly from my computer any more.... any suggestions?

Hi,

I don't really understand your process.
But f3z needs to be uploaded to datapanel first and converted to f3d during that process.

Follow the process outlined in the video.  Do not forget to "Accept Solution" on my post if this solves your issue, which it will.  Come back and ask if you get lost.

Hi,

F3z files cannot be opened with fusion but must be converted from/to the datapanel via upload. Then the projects can be opened from datapanel in Fusion.

I agree with you that a F3Z file must be uploaded to the cloud to open but you can open it from Fusion and it starts the same process for you.  The Animated GIF will show this.

I am well aware what a F3Z file is.  If you are in Fusion, you can select the Open command, select a F3Z file and it will bring up the Upload dialog box.  However, you can right click on an F3Z file and assign Open With to Fusion and it will start Fusion but not bring up the Upload dialog.  So you can assign the Open With to Fusion if you would like but it serves no purpose.  The Open With assigned to a F3D file works perfectly as I showed in my earlier video.

fusion 360 will not open up .f3z files without first using the Data panel.

Are you up loading to the data then bringing it back into New Design?  I can get around this... other people get my files with the correct title , is is just my system that saves them on old names, ( which is just a few more steps where before I did not  have to do that.. ) I found a work around.... this may be unsolvable... got to choice your battles... I give up...
