Hello,

To save your file as an stl, please right click the body (or component) you would like to export, and then select "Save as STL" as you can see in the below picture. Hopefully this works for you!

Hi,

I opened an STL file with Fusion 360, it was a flat 3d object, on to which I added 3d Text. After I saved it as STL, so I could print it. I could find no way of saving the STL in which it would have the original model and 3d text I added together. Every time I would try to save the file, it saved as only the original model by itself, or the text I created by it self!

Why is this happening?? it's so frustrating, is there like a FLATTEN function like photoshop so the program doesn't think it's two separate things?

Please help! Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for your help, I tried following your explanation, but when I try
to do the first step, my menu does NOT have the "Edit" button. I tried
reading ahead, and I do NOT have a Merge bodies button either!

Why is this??

Please help,

Thank you

Ah I think I know what's going on. The Mesh workspace is still in preview which means you must open your preferences, and enable the Mesh workspace in the Preview tab in order to have access. Once you've done that, make sure you are in the Model Workspace and you are right clicking on a Mesh body (yellow icon) and it should have Edit as an option.

Hi Lucas, yes indeed that was the issue! Thanks a lot for your post and help! I’m completely new to fusion 360, so I’m in the painful process of learning all the basics. Thanks again for all the help!

You are commenting on a very old User Interface.  The commands have changed.  You used to only be able to Save as STL now you have other options including STL.
