F360 Laggy creating simple drawing

Over the years with the regular updates Fusion 360 has become so laggy its near on unusable.

What I am seeing is when I create a simpe sketch the time to even click on the line tool and attach it to another point takes several seconds, Worse if its a spline or an arc. Zooming in and out with the mouse wheel is no longer responsive and the right click on an item often seems to take ages to get a response.

initially I thought the issue may have been my machine but other cad applications dont seem to suffer at all from these issues and are really responsive.

I cleared out the cahce thinking this may help but still no joy, turned of all processes that were not required and checked the HDD space just to make sure I was not lacking in space.

Now the down side for me is that my system is running Windows 7, I would love to upgrade to 10 but sadly at this stage its not an option as some of the software I use has issues with 10 in that there is no direct port control so for the time being im stuck with 7.

however I cant see why a product that was working fine several months ago after a few updates would turn in to a total dog to use.

Just to be sure its was not an old driver issue I updated all the graphics drivers and that did not inprove things.

here is the screen cast of the issue although on the screen it seems to look a little more responsive than it is in real life.

Could you possibly share one of these laggy designs? It should be easy to see if it's the design or your hardware causing the issues by testing it out on another computer.

Sure, Here is the design. its prety simple as im still in the process of the sketch stage.

system is
I5 3.40Ghz with 16Gb Ram
Win7 64Bit
Drive has 400Gb Free space
Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Total available graphics memory 9967 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 2048 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 7919 MB
Display adapter driver version 27.21.14.5638
Primary monitor resolution 1600x900
DirectX version DirectX 10

No other applications seem to have an issue including Artcam although its an older version.
Even photoshop runs like a rocket although again its an older version.

I think I found the issue...
Under preferances / general there was an option to allow the selection of DX11 or DX9 or Auto Select.
it was set to DX11 changed that to Auto Select and restarted Fusion 360.

Last year I also had an issue with lines not terminating where they were supposed to terminate. The sugestion was to start Fusion in compatibility mode. Turning this off and changing the above item seems to have resuolved the issue although im not sure if the line termination problem is going to come back.

I was experiencing heavy lagging on simple sketches. I'm on Win7 with a GeForce 850M 2GB and was thinking it's the hardware's fault.

Changing to DirectX 9 and now it's working normally. Thanks a lot!
