F360 DXF export from sheet metal flat pattern - Ghost & broken geometry.

Hi all,

I'm having some trouble getting Fusion to export a flat pattern correctly.

The sheet metal part I am working on has a text cutout which, when our laser cutter is loading in to their nesting software is producing some strange geometry issues.

Workflow to export DXF for laser cutting has been:

Create flat pattern > Create sketch on surface > save sketch as .DXF

Images of what is appearing at the cutters end attached alongside the .F3z part file.

EDIT: I should add, I have tried exporting the DXF and opening back up in Fusion & another software and it opens and appears correct.

If you say when opened in Fusion or another software DXF looks correct I don't think problem is in Fusion's side.

I also converted to DXF, directly from flat pattern (i.e. without any sketch) and opened it in CorelCAD, it's fine.

DXF is attached.

I had this suspicion but I was hoping it was something I could fix on my end.

Thank you for checking it out, Hamidsh.

Regards,

Hi Hamidsh,

I sent your .DXF through to the cutters and it went in to nesting without a hitch. I'm not sure why it worked but I'm accepting you as the solution.

Thanks again!

Glad it helped. I made my DXF by directly exporting the flat pattern (check out here for the details). It can be that when you did it via a sketch projected geometries caused problem.

Gotcha - Haven't used that function since starting mainly because our sheet metal cutters don't like having the bend lines on the DXF.

Will bear in mind for the future!
