Extremely long load times

Hi,

I am very new to Fusion 360 and have been experiencing extremely long load times on a project I have been working on. I originally was using an older model surface pro (still only a few years old but was not designed for 3d modeling). After upgrading to a modern gaming laptop with a core i7 and rtx2070, I find that I am still experiencing long load times/hang ups/ and occasional crashing. I am an amature 3d printing enthusiast and have spent the last few months learning 360 on my own and designing a 3d printable full face shield.  Some of the files i have based my design off of were from thingiverse and in somecases had very high polygon counts (over a million in some cases).  Some of these objects seem to cause more slow loading times than others which i guess makes sense.  But isnt this software used to model like extremely complex industrial objects like nuclear reactors and stuff?  Would it really be the case that a complex face shield would cause 30+ minute load times?  I am not sure what the exact cause of my issues here are but they have been driving me totally crazy!! Please let me know where i can acquire the log data to post so as to give someone out there a better idea of what is going on with my project!

Hey leightont3000,

F360 can't handle large polygon count meshes very well- it's not really designed for it. The mesh tools are mostly intended for reverse-engineering with solid / surface geometry. It's probably not the right tool for you if you intend to work with meshes.
